Last night was a bad night for boxing

I agree with MissCole's stance.
I've been making similar comments on here immediately since the fight ended, but I'll repeat one more time. There was no excuse for not pushing to stop Marquez. Floyd can't complain about the praise Pacman, etc. get when he won't even do the bare minimum and do what he must to get a lesser fighter out of there. For his own best interest (business wise), he needed a T/KO effort (not saying he necessarily had to win that way) Saturday.
All that surgical sniping he did was fine, but once it was established he had a carcass in front of him, he should've did the right thing and satisfied his paying customers by really trying to finish it. That means coming out of the shell and dazzling. He already had the fight in the bag, I saw no reason for him to remain being Moneypecker throughout.Comment

Even though it was a mismatch and JMM was totally dominated, i still give him props and mad respect for the fact that he lasted and gave it his all despite being completely out of breath because of him being too heavy and not use to that weight at all. On the other hand, i respect Floyd's skills and always have, but i don't respect the man. And why did he not want to get weight in for the fight night, so what if his 160lbs, everyone expected it after weighing in at 146lbs at the weigh in.Comment

I watched it with a crowd of black people, and most of them were disappointed and felt the fight was extremely boring. Their was one black guy who was a cool guy but was a bit like Horus and said stuff like wow floyds awesome and so on. He told me he appreciated Floyds skills and so on...
I don't care, when I watch a boxing fight I want to be entertained. And no one their was really entertained, even though he appreciated Floyds skills I don't even know if he actually enjoyed the fight.
Mayweathers skills are rediculous. I was entertained with his fight on Saturday. The whole card was awesome from top to bottom.Comment

everyone I was watching it with left disappointed as well.. because of the huge size advantage he had, everyone was expecting an ass beating and a KO. they got a technical beating but not anything brutal. I was like what did you expect? It's Floyd Mayweather after all.
Boxing needs stellar nights to generate more interest in the sport. This fight did anything but generate more interest in the sport. Floyd Mayweather is bad for boxing.
Thankfully there are guys like Miguel Cotto & Manny Pacquiao..
I guarantee that night is sure to be stellar!Comment

I wouldn't necessarily say it was a bad night for boxing. It was what most expected the fight to turn out being.
In fact, most expected the fight to last no longer than 6 or 8 rounds at most.
And many still paid to watch it knowing the odds against Marquez.
Fortunately for Marquez, he wasn't seriously injured and can live to fight another day.
Now, the post fight interview brouhaha seemed more exciting than the whole event. Of almost WWE-like proportions.
The classic moment was when the camera focused on Arnold The Governator and then caught George Lopez's big head with his game face on, standing up into the camera.I seriously thought he was going to rush the ring.
I heard "Marquez needs Rey Misterio! Where's he at when you need him?"
"Keep an eye on Triple H, he might crack a chair on Marquez out of nowhere"
"Do you think Stone Cold Steve Austin would drink Tecate?" etc..Comment
