Ruiz has a lot to prove. He fell off after he won the world titles. His hunger is questionable.... maybe I shouldn't used hunger. His DESIRE is questionable. I wonder if he still hs the same passion as before.

His fat ass is lying. I swear he said this before. He got some money from the AJ fights and now he fights once every year and a half.Comment

PBC most likely saw Ortiz's jelly legs and compromised punch resistance against Martin so the plan is to sacrifice the Cuban to Ruiz. Assuming Wilder gets past Helenius, Wilder now has an in-house opponent for PPV. Who knows, by that time maybe there is a vacant belt laying around.
What of Frank Sanchez you ask? There's no real likelihood he will be able to generate PPV revenue so he will be tucked away and used as leverage as he ascends the rankings of the sanctioning bodies.
I like Luis Ortiz. I think he fights for the right reasons. But Ruiz is an easy pick in this fight and will make him a "former champion" with KO power and name awareness. Him and Wilder squaring off makes sense.
Side Note: I have no idea what Sanchez is doing. No rumors or anything. I kind of forgotten about him....Comment

This is the most obvious, easy to set up scenario. While I like the idea of Wilder and Joshua finally facing off for big career stakes, the cash flow of staying in house and the ability to sell Wilder-Ruiz as an all action fight makes way to much sense.

Sanchez is in a tough spot. He has skills but he's not the most entertaining fighter. He will have difficulty gaining a large enough fanbase to generate revenue and opponents won't want to face him without incentive. Not sure how much PBC will invest in him.Comment
