Comments Thread For: Arum: I Look Forward To Matching Haney-Kambosos Winner With Lomachenko

By Jake Donovan - Devin Haney began his lightweight title run in pursuit of Vasiliy Lomachenko. Such a fight is now in his sights three years later now that Haney is the division's lone true champion, though not before handling present day business.

It would be great if Devin requested the franchise belt and Loma became the Email champion.

Is it really difficult to understand that unifications trump mandatories. It’s like the oldest rule in boxing. Anyone with a brain between their ears know this.

You do know loma fought a bigger guy, world champion, huge puncher, much more established than Devin Haney ever was at that point.

So loma “ducked” a defence minded pillow fisted lightweight to fight teofimo Lopez. A natural 140Iber.

If you still don’t grasp this, then stop watching boxing kid. Go back to figure skating or whatever it is you gen z kids do.

Great 3 fight plan for Lomachenko.

          -Win the Ortiz fight
-Fight for undisputed with Haney and lose
-Feed Loma to Shakur and hype up Shakur's profile even higher.

So why would loma have to give up the wbc belt in the first place?

He wouldnt have been stripped since unifications trump mandatories right?

What does power have to do with it?You can lose a fight by being outboxed.

He asked to be emeritus/ franchise and gave up the belt to avoid losing to Haney because doing so meant no Teo payday.

It’s what a lot of boxers do. Loma is no different.

                  Haney will move to 140.
No Loma fight. What goes around comes around.

Teo was not more established than Haney, and at that point Devin had been calling out Loma for years, as he still does even though he's the undisputed champion. Also, Teo never had a fight at 140 until last week, so we can't say that he was a natural 140lber then. He fought Kambosas at 135 after Loma. Even for his 140 fight, he only weighed in at 138.
