Comments Thread For: Joshua: My Objective Was To Never Hurt Usyk, I Wanted To Box, But This Time I Want To Harm Him
Anthony Joshua made a curious admission just days before he's set to challenge Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch Saturday at the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia.

Saying all the right things imo. This kind of mentality (sense of perspective, critical thinking etc) has served him well so far and will continue to in his future.
Usyk was in an Actual war. Usyk will show he can Knock you out as well, not just box your ears off.
You could well be right there. Thing I love so much about these big big fights is how the whole boxing and media world changes on who does the business tonight. The whole chat show circuit the perception of the fighters for years after. Look at Tyson Fury now he's loving his life now because he won on his nights. I truly can't decide whose gonna win. Whoever wins Fury will be constantly quizzed as to whether he'll comeback. Me personally I love all that will be won't be right the winner. I love Gareth Davies and Steve Bunce giving us the latest gossip and news.
my brother reckons usek will beat Jshua but I don't know. He reckons Fury will make them both look silly easy win but I get so caught up in the build-up I just can't wait
Only hours now.
I do actually partially believe him -- I think he did think he could impress the world in the first fight by outboxing Usyk. As long as he doesn't believe he can bash Usyk to pieces at will, a change in apparoach to just trying to land the big bombs should serve him better. Don't for a second think he was aiming to go twelve rounds. To say that was his aim, but that he didn't train properly for 12 rounds just makes him sounds either ****** or ill-prepared.
His comments about where his career is at are a bit weird... Properly sounds like he wants out of the game in the near future.

No, this is BAD.
“It sounds crazy but I'm not going to lie. My objective was never to hurt him, to land damaging punches. My aim was to go the full 12 rounds and prove I could box as well as he does. To land scoring punches,” Joshua told Daily Mail.
You have GOT to be kidding me.
A guy who does weight training more than cardio, doesn't want to use his mass for what it's good for. He's not Floyd - why would you think that's a good strategy against someone like Usyk who you already know is a better boxer??
Meanwhile, you got F'n Wilder and Fury over there, both damn near trying as hard as they can to get a "body on the record" - and in the process gave us a memorable trilogy that makes all of the other heavyweights look like jokes.
This is the hurt business.
Fighters who don't use their REAL talents, take L's.
I would have thought someone like Joshua should know that. The only reason he beat Grabomir was that he upped the aggression late.
