Canelo is obviously a much bigger star in the Americas but Joshua is bigger pretty much everywhere else imo.

Some Americans think that America is bigger than the rest of world combined, AJ is probably the biggest draw in boxing worldwide. That most American boxing fans hate him has only enhanced his popularity just like most Mexicans hated Floyd Mayweather Jr back in the day.

Not many people in America know or care about AJ. He got got KOd by a chubby American who got dropped by areeola and was beaten decisively already by a cruiserweight who has arguably lost to maris Bredis and Dereck chisora. Do you have any solid evidence to prove AJ is bigger than Canelo in the Asian markets, or Australia and NZ?

I'll give you Africa since he is of Nigerian descent and gives back to people in Nigeria which surely would make him more popular in that region.

I highly doubt that in Europe, outside of the UK and Eastern Europe, people care about AJ or Canelo as boxing isn't popular in most Western Euro countries.

Some of you Americans are just narcissists. The world is much bigger in all aspects than America. You guys couldn't even defeat poor countries like Vietnam and Afghanistan. Ruiz jr trilogy is a mega fight? Whaaaat? Lmao. It is NOT. Maybe if he sparks ortiz and AJ wins usyk it could be a big HW fight but as it stands that fight isn’t relevant. You then dropped him in the same class as Tyson fury which he is not. Tyson fury yes is the top of not one of the top 2 biggest stars in the sport with canelo regardless of the outcome of this fight. Like I said, most likely pretty much everywhere outside of the Americas. The hispanic fanbase element that heavily factors into a boxers popularity in the US doesnt really apply in other places. AJ is a HW, looks the part, gets a ton of marketing deals, has been fighting in Asia and his fights are on at a more agreeable time than Canelos for a good chunk of the worlds population. Not saying its the be all end all but taking a look at both guys social media followers across multiple platforms plus view counts on their videos on YT, Joshua leads everywhere.

If we are going with this, in the "pre dominant market in the world" the UFC has been kicking boxings ass for the majority of the last 15 years. Conor fights do 2-3x the buys of Canelo fights nowadays ffs. Boxing is not that big in the US anymore.
