Nope, I have watched him his whole career. When he gets in with a boxer, such as Dirrell, he lets his hands go, but its the same one step forward, walk him down style. Even when a boxer attacked from angles and landed, he would just wave them on, just like his brother, like I can take your punches to get off mine. If Dirrell would not have suffered such a brutal cut on the eyelid, he probably would have took him to the limit with the fight going either way. Dirrell does not possess Beterbiev's power. If he fights that way, he will get stretched. Against everyone after Dirrell, he simply walked them down without defense, just more superior offense.

Whats the cut got to do with getting brutally beaten up? The tide was turning , the cut had little to do with that its just an excuse, David just did what he always does, break down his opponents and stopping them. It sounds like you did not pay attention to his last fight vs Lemi where he was patient and stuck his jab from the outside until he hurt him. He is capable of doing that the whole fight if needed, you are underestimating him. He has never been marked up his whole career, so the notion he has poor defence is basically a myth.

For some reason Beterbiev poor defense is always ignored and the focus is on his opponents. In reality he has poorer defence than David, and is quite hittable and he has been dropped twice by bums, so you can just imagine what happens when he fights the most accurate power puncher in the entire sport. He will turn Beterbiev into a heavy bag.Comment

The cut had everything to do with it. It was on his EYELID, so the blood was pouring directly into his eye. Before the cut, Dirrell was outboxing him, but Benavidez was aggressive, as always. Just because he doesn't mark up easy, doesn't mean that his defense is good. Every fight, he takes punches in order to throw his own. He has very little head movement or footwork, just aggressive offense. I like him, but these are his flaws, as every boxer has a few. Lemeiux was a true 160 pounder that moved up because he couldn't beat any of the champions there. David was about 5 inches taller and 20 to 30 pounds heavier. He's supposed to beat him up. Also, he wasn't patient at all, he was jumping on him every round and the fight was over in 3 or 4.
