Yeah because those guys were elite level world champs, Eubank and Benn are IBO title level fighters.

It's hard to think of any past fight that was exactly like this because Canelo/Khan, Spence/Garcia had all had career success going into their fights. Usually boxers don't jump 2 divisions for what is basically a domestic level fight.

Benn might fare very well because Eubank Jr. is not GGG, and the fight is not at 160. However, the question is how Benn will look when he (if he) comes back to 147? If he stays at 154, MatchRoom still has the same problems! They can't get him fights, and they have very few fighters to match him with! I think had they accepted to fight Avanesyan, and Benn became EBU Welterweight Champion, he would've been able to secure a title eliminator by one of the ABCs. This fight will put money in his pockets, but does nothing to help him get closer to a title shot at 147, nor 154!

I look at it from a different angle, Benn/Hearn are happy to have things this way, they don't want to fight any of the top welters. They are hoping Spence-Crawford winner vacates to go to 154, then Hearn will bribe one of the sanctioning bodies to put Benn in a vacant title fight against an easy opponent. Then he'll defend against soft touches as long as possible.

I felt that a victory over Avanesyan would make him a mandatory to someone @ 147! What's so crazy is that Benn and Vergil Ortiz Jr. both fight on DAZN, and that match up is never even mentioned!

Because the thinking will be, that if and when their both champions, there's an easy to make unification fight there. Their not gonna get unification fights with PBC champions, so it kinda makes sense.
