Dealing with these people is the worst part of being a fan of this sport.
Why to people simp over guys like Hearn and Haymon?

Some people are such fanboys of certain fighters it almost seems like satire but I guess that is fairly common across all sports. The promotional and network cheerleaders are truly bizarre though and not sure they exist in any other spectator sports viewer base. -

Haymon - Racial bias mostly, PBC is the black's promotional company. They do not hide their loyalty (thus corruption) with each other. He ****ed over Kownacki, for example, by forcing him to turn down the AJ payday. Would he have done that with a "brotha"?
Hearn - Charismatic, presented an easy-going attitude and is relatively young which was a breath of fresh air to those sick of the bitter old fossils that had run boxing for decades. Also, he promised a lot and seemed, at one point, to may be able to back it up.
Now he has become the bitter, cynical promoter he once mocked and overestimated his own draw by dropping Sky for DAZN*. Plus, it is no secret he idolises Dana White's near monopoly of MMA with the UFC and wishes to emulate a similar model in boxing.
This has resulted in the American promotional stables pretty much shutting him out stateside, particularly PBC.
*All he has done is overpay guys like Jacobs for the Canelo bout to line his own pockets. Plus, he is desperately looking for the next US star by overpaying guys like Haney and Andrade who have no pulling power whatsoever.
So overall, he is a fairly slimy character with a huge ego.Last edited by Good ol' Douglas; 08-08-2022, 12:00 AM.Comment

The promotional fanboys seem to gravitate to either PBC or Matchroom. You don't see it with Top Rank and i don't really see it with Queensbury either (although I will defer to the UK crowd to enlighten me). Perhaps because Warren and Bob are old crusty fellows whereas Hearn and Haymon have tried to shake up the sport a bit.

Yes.
He also advised Luis Ortiz and some guy named Deontay Wilder to turn down offers to face AJ.
All three of them were free to accept Hearns offer - they had nothing legally or contractually preventing them from ignoring Haymon's advice. They did not, much to their detriment.Last edited by paulf; 08-08-2022, 12:56 AM.Comment

They have the Haymon clause though. A supposedly leaked contract states that Haymon has the final say on whether a fighter takes a fight or not. It's a shame Goldenboy's and Top Rank's lawsuit against Haymon was settled out of court. Would have loved to see the actual contract.

Twitter rumor and obviously false at that.

Haymon would not have been in the meeting with John Skipper trying to pressure Wilder into rejecting the offer if he had final say in the matter.
Lou didn't get exiled for nothin' - Wilder came close to signing.Last edited by paulf; 08-08-2022, 02:07 AM.Comment

They all have their Minions lets be honest, PBC, Top Rank, Matchroom, GBP, they have little Bots who jump on Social Media and this forum and Defend everything Haymon, Arum, De La Hoya and Hearn does no matter what and this is very bad for the sport, VERY BAD! Even worse are the Media Members who have taken sides in all this Nonsense, they jump in on bashing one Promoter/Promotion while ignoring and defending the garbage from the other when they're all Greedy and they ALL have their Good Cards and Bad Cards
Their Bottom Line is $$$ and they don't believe pleasing us "Old Broke Hardcore Boxing Fans" is what generates them the most money and honestly, they're RIGHT! Wake Up people and look around, the Boxing Industry has stopped caring what the Hardcores think YEARS AGO so all our complaining is falling on complete Deaf Ears and they all are just making what they want to make and what they can AFFORD to make and what makes them the most money. We the Hardcores are the Minority, it is not many of us, maybe what 200K of us if that? We alone cannot make any fight a Mega Fight so they depend on Casuals far more than they do us. So all this Haymon, Hearn, Arum, De La Hoya bashing, just waste of energy, they don't care, neither losing sleep over it while all are getting Wealthier and it is not like the fighters are struggling either, the Top guys especially, these guys are getting paidLast edited by sicko; 08-08-2022, 02:50 AM.Comment
