Vergil Ortiz is the welterweight David Benavidez

His offensive arsenal and poise are a thing of beauty. Its not always easy to stop a guy who just wants to go 12 and Ortiz didn't let that happen. If you box you know it's difficult to stop someone who is only trying to survive. Very impressed by Ortiz.

Does he fail to make weight? Does he pop dirty for *******? They both are massively overrated and over hyped for their resumes for sure.

Man after watching ortiz today, he will never live up to the hype. He is very robotic, slow, flat footed one dimensional fighter. He takes too many clean shots. He needs to tighten up his defense. He has power, pressure, and a good chin. Once he steps up to fight the real athletic fighters that can actually box and have power, he will lose easily. I don't think he can beat ennis, never mind Crawford.

Yup his combination punching both up and downstairs are brutal and the leverage he gets on shots is crazy whips em like he's swinging a bat.

I would say Benavidez is a far more intelligent boxer than Ortiz in the sense that Benavidez looks to show that he can outbox people at times when he is not pressing the action. Benavidez also possesses that ridiculous hand speed advantage which is something that Ortiz does not have.

Vergil has a lot of talent but in my opinion he is held back by something in training (not sure if it is the father being to close in training and in the corner) that he hasn't really progressed much from what I can see. From what I saw is his corner want him to do damage and get knockouts through sheer physical ability (even his guard is based on strength) instead of dissecting a fighter and tactically breaking down his opponent.

I love his hustle, work ethic, power, high guard & good speed. He needs to actually learn to be smarter though. He also needs to learn to RESPECT fighters. Not everyone is going to be easy.

                  I disagree.

Vergil knows what he is he's not these Young guys who don't know what they are and try and emulate guys when it doesn't fit them. Vergil is a boxer puncher he'll box you when he needs but if there is no danger in power like tonight he'll break you down. Very smart and aware fighter.

His jab is better than some guy’s straight right. That kind of lead makes everything else work better
