Cobb's looked better. But Hooker was dreadful. He wasn't in shape. And perhaps even less in shape mentally. The Hooker that gave Ramirez and Ortiz jr problems imo would beat Cobb's. But unfortunately that Hooker didn't show.
There was a point, perhaps after the 3rd round, when Hooker walked towards his corner and looked up at the ceiling of the arena. He looked incredibly emotional and on verge of mental breakdown. Crawford grabbed him and whispered guidance into his ear. BoMac was quiet.
I don't think the Hooker that battled Ramirez and Ortiz will ever step in the ring. He boiled down to 140 for so long and as he gets older I imagine it will be tough to make 147. Adding to they he lost what was essentially his maternal figure in Stacy Snyder.

Yeah I saw that, and you make good points. And I'd agree with you about Hooker going forward. But at the same time fighters have come back from bad places before, so you never know. I saw an interview with Hearn a few months back, talking about Hooker as a potential opponent for Benn. He was talking about Hookers weight. Hooker was talking about going back to 140, and Hearn was basically saying, he's kidding himself on, as he was killing himself to make 140. But that he would struggle at 147 because, although he was tall and rangy, he was a bit slight and not physically strong at WW. I agreed with that opinion, based on the Ortiz fight. But last night he was massive. He missed weight of course and had been bustin ass trying to make the weight. That said, he didn't gas last night. I just think he was lethargic and his timing was way off. He didn't look focused and probably shouldn't have been in the ring. Crawford pretty much said words to that effect also. That said. Well done to Cobbs, he done well, and Hookers condition is not his concern. You can only beat the man in front of you.

Between those two, Mo had one of the best braintrusts in the sport supporting him. Their sense of dismay, which you captured so well here, was deep.
Intriguingly, he battled back. It was too late (in the day and likely in his career) but he put such a hurt on Cobbs that his man ran for the last two rounds.
Once again the fun, scrappy Cobbs looked smashed up in victory. He’s on his way to getting his Gatti face.
