In the run up to Lewis v Ruddock, I recall Bowe making noises about not wanting to fight the winner.

Frank/Kelly Maloney has said that both sides could have done more.

I liked Rock Newman but he was crazy. Wouldn't surprise me to find he was making outrageous demands.

Lewis dropped his belt to make a bigger fight. Bowe can't say the same, unfortunately.

Byrd could have beaten Lennox. This would have been 2003 when Byrd beat Holyfield and Lennox was way out of shape and got gifted the Vitali win. Lennox most definitely loses. He knew he was out of shape for a guy like Byrd.

That was 1992, how anybody could remember that far back is beyond me and it was either some obscure interview or a boxing mag article.

Anyway, Bowe was getting that Holyfield fight for a bunch of belts in 92'. Why would he look for a Lennox fight when Lennox was 21-0 and on the fringes of obscurity?

I'm old enough to remember lol.

With Tyson out of the picture, the four top guys had loosely agreed to a tournament; Holyfield v Bowe and Lewis vs Ruddock were the semi finals. Then in the run up to Lewis v Ruddock, Bowe appeared to change his mind.

He got PTSD watching Ruddock taking that wretched right hand. The same one he took in the amateurs. That's why he changed his mind.

              - - Lewie trained a month in England and then 8 weeks in the US for Vitali who took the fight on 2 weeks notice to replace Kirk Johnson who twisted a tltty.

Lewis was the Gold Medalist who KO Big Dummy, hardly obscure.

Yes, we all know boxing is well beyond U...

Correct, the fight with the winner was agreed in principle before the Holyfield fight.
