Russell is not a good fighter. He's too short, swings too wildly, and lacks defense. He got caught early in his fight yesterday, who's to say that Rancid could not catch him again. Rancid got knocked down, he got hurt, but he recovered quickly from it. You could tell when he got caught, he would recover. The sad thing are the Showtime commentators who all defended that dishonest referee right after the stoppage. I truly miss the analysts from HBO. And I was absolutely lost in the beginning of the fight when they stated the dirty referee had officiated over 200 professional bouts. I vaguely remember seeing this joker.
When it's all said and done, the referee will get suspended, and Russell will never be a superstar, despite Showtime's support. He's just not good.

Like most boxing fans I thought it was a bad stoppage. Anytime a fighter gets up and beats the count before the count of ten should be allowed to continue. I don't like it when referees wave off fights after the fighter has beaten the count. This is called prizefighting for a reason.
So let them go out on their shields. They're getting paid a massive amount of money to do so. However, and at the same time; I will have to agree with Antuanne Russell here. He was going to inevitably stop him anyway.
That punch landed was a leaping right hook to the temple. So it was only going to be a matter of time before Russell caught him again by stopping him.mgame likes this.

Also, why do these bad stoppages only seem to happen at the Barclay's Center? We've witnessed the same thing with Davis vs Romero.

We all know this happens for popular fighters behind the scenes, but this dude is still a nobody - Rances and Postol both have put in more in the game than this guy, they deserved the benefit of the doubt.
Get TF out of the way, stop trying to manufacture, this sport will produce magic if you let !Last edited by LA_2_Vegas; 07-31-2022, 04:20 PM.

If Postol was allowed to continue he would have finished the fight on his feet without a stoppage loss on his record. There was like 30 seconds left in the final round and he wasn't even knocked down if I remember correctly. Don't think he was even wobbled or hardly even visibly hurt. Anything to keep that perfect KO record.
