  • I have been watching boxing for more than 50 years and I have seen some awful stoppages. The
chaves v taylor sioppage was the worst. I saw number two tonight.
There was zero apparent reason to stop the first fight tonight. SHAMEFUL!

    • One Judge had this an even fight. WTF? And then some say there was no corruption on the undercard.

Lots of posing and mean faces, sticking his tongue out though. From the sounds of his post fight interview he sounded proud that Garcia couldn’t hurt him….If that’s the kind of moral victory that he’s satisfied with, then he should quit boxing. He hasn’t made any adjustments since his last fight in which he was gifted a draw. I don’t know how much credit I should give Garcia for this win…Looked like Benevidez has lots of big holes in his current boxing strategies and in his heart. At least he could have pressed the action at a higher pace. Both guys were static the whole night…No changes, no different levels up…no dynamics. Made for a frustrating and less entertaining fight. Most of the blame should be placed on Jose, though.
But there was no reason for DG to change anything. If it aint broke, dont fix it. Benavidez had nothing for him, and didn't even seem to know the word "adjustment".

DG might not have had the power to give Benaavidez real pain, but he dipped and slipped pretty much landed at will.

What was with Benavidez macho act all night? Instead of pressing the fight and throwing and landing more punches, he throws up his hands to his side and mugs for Garcia and the camera. Obviously his corner didn’t have any control over him. I would have slapped him silly and told him he was blowing the fight with his antics. Benavidez has talent but he is a real head case. Save that **** for the barrio.

          • Yeah, just watched the Russell fight, the stoppage was BS. Barthalemy rocked him a couple times. The first round was one of those chin warping punches. Your face is turning one way, and your chin is going in the opposite direction . Right around the guard. Got Russell with another clubbing punch at the end of round 4? Barthalemy took an almost flash knockdown. He got back up, he was okay, not wobbly, nothing...hmmm....nice to see the firey Orlando Cuellar again

He thinks it's good drama but I think he's cringy as hell and needs to focus on the fight we just saw instead of trying to make interviewees emotional with out of bounds questions.

Danny boxed awesome. But he better go back down in weight.

              • OH , Benavidez caught Garcia with an overhand right to the head. Getting easily outpointed though.

In the post-fight interview he mentioned he rehydrated up to 159 pounds. Reason why he seems battered in comparison despite the dominating display of DSG.

Yes, Garcia can't be blamed for continuing with his game plan because it was enough to beat Benevidez with.

                    • Jose Benavidez has got to be one of biggest fool's in boxing today, trying to provoke his opponent while getting outpointed in the fight.
He virtually lost every round in the fight, and still acted like he was winning the fight in a entertaining fashion, which he wasn't.
This had to be very tough for his father who was working his corner, and his brother one of the best fighters in the 168 pound division, who were in attendance watching their family member get out classed like that.
Just as concerning was Danny Garcia hitting Benavidez with just about every punch he threw, and not drop or stop him.
It's said that Benavidez came in at light heavyweight 172.2 pounds, and maybe that had something to do with his ability to absorb the sustained punishment.
I'm not sure if that was the reason because if you can punch you should be able to knockout a bigger/heavier opponent, and Garcia can punch.
My question is how much did Garcia weigh on fight night, I read someone's post on this platform that he hydrated to 158 pounds, can anyone confirm that?
It's my contention that Garcia didn't win convincingly enough to make believer's out of them, that he can beat anyone of the top ten rated fighters at 154 pounds.
