Comments Thread For: Terence Crawford: Jaron Ennis Going To Be Force To Be Reckoned With - I'd Fight Him

Jaron Ennis is on the shortlist of being boxing's next big breakout star. Ennis (29-0, 27 KOs, 1 ND) has drawn comparisons to several elite contemporaries, and chief among the list is three-division champion and switch-hitting pound-for-pound star Terence Crawford.

After Spence and Crawford do their thing, I think Boots gets a belt @ 147, and then goes straight to 154 to get another shot! He won't see Spence or Crawford @ 147, but maybe @ 154! Same goes for Ortiz Jr.! I think he & Boots will meet @ 154!

This is what I wanted to hear. Crawford does kinda evade it a bit by saying he doesn't know if Ennis can beat the elite of the division.

There's not much of the elite, there's Crawford and Spence. I don't know if he beats them, but going by the eyeball test, yes, I think he's a bit too much for Spence and Bud.

You guys do this every time, smh. You get the hots for a fighter and start giving them imaginary W's because they're undefeated and look unstoppable against lesser opponents.

Stop it already! You should know better by now that the sport DOES NOT work like a fantasy league- something similar to your wishes above. Boots doesn't even need to be mentioned until the elites of the division face one another and he's actually fought somebody of note.

The man hasn't even been tested yet and his team and gym buddies are doing the proverbial "pitbull" talk as though they're holding him back from attacking others. Again, Boots has NOT been tested yet.

"B-b-b-but nobody in da division wanna fight him doe. Dey scared of Boots! Dey running from Boots!" Listen, there are tiers of opponents for a reason in each division. He's fought smaller men thus far and I'm just not as overly convinced as some of you are that he's great. He still has to prove that at some point...even when he is in position to face bigger names.

Again, Boots is a great talent but we need to allow him to grow while we push the bigger names to face one another.

I think you're right, but I don't think anyone wants to see Boots in the ring. He's pretty scary.

Yes, this seems the most likely scenario.
Win or lose, I think Spence is going to 154.
Crawford, I don't know, he might stay at 147 or, more likely, chase more titles at 154.
Ortiz definitely hasn't got long left at 147, it's more a matter of he's able to secure a title before moving up.
Ennis doesn't appear to be struggling as much with the weight yet.

I rate boots ennis highly he's got athletism speed and power and look from the eye test a future star. He's either gonna be a supreme talent and he's gonna reign through divisions or he could be andre berto. Who people were hyping when he first came through simalier to boots because he was athletic and powerful and people were saying this could be the guy but as the opponents got tougher he started to show big flaws and his career just was up and Down

From what I have seen from Ennis so far (to be honest it’s only a couple of fights I’ve watched of his), but from what I have seen he has tremendous talent, he has skill and power, he can box and he can punch. I want to see him against Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman and guys at that level to get a better read of where he is. Personally I think he stops them both, but he needs that level of fight next.
