Haney is the unified champion at 135 and is not even 25. Those belts give him leverage against bigger but belt-less names like Garcia.
It is literally the same exact thing Floyd did when he moved up to 147 by fighting Zab and Baldomir. It gave him leverage.

Boxing fans are the worst!
They talk big behind the safety of their screens.
Haney traveled to enemy territory and beat the man that beat the man. Haney’s not popular and it’s not his fault but those belts give him leverage against bigger names at 135.
The guy not even 25 and has time to build his legacy but casuals jump on him like vultures on a carcass.
And I don’t think Haney beats Tank or Shakur but he’s earned his spot in the proverbial contemporary “4 Kings” conversation. None of them are anywhere near the original 4 Kings, just FYIBoxingIsGreat likes this.

Only on a a boxingscene thread can you find the unemployed haters living in their momma's basement criticizing successful people who put their lives on the line every time they step in the ring looking for the biggest fights possible for the fans because they hate their own pathetic little lives so much that the only way they feel better about themselves is to criticize people who are actually making something of their lives.... Go figure....

To expand:
I've nothing against Haney (I respect him as a person, a cool dude), but the problem is these fake belts. Feels like he's reached the end before he had even begun. I don't know if people get what I mean. To me, I look at Haney as a beginner, with a lot of ambitions. These belts cripple him.
Having all these crooked belts just by name, while the whole boxing world is clamoring for your contemporaries possibly fighting each other instead, is totally meaningless. Nobody really cares, sorry. The two biggest names in your division don't even acknowledge you or want your belts. That's a tough spot to be in.
Too much too soon is never good.
Put the work in first. JoJo Diaz is your best win.Last edited by BoxingIsGreat; 07-17-2022, 08:02 PM.Oregonian likes this.
