Anyone else think Shields will school Marshall?

I am amazed how many are picking Marshall to blow her out, that isn't to say it can't happen. She is a big girl and for a girl, she can punch but meh, punchers chance at best.

I am not seeing shades of Fury and such.
Her feet are forever being brought together or crossing, her footworks a friggin' mess its just nobody has capitalised thus far as her opponents have been 40yr old soccer moms half her size. I hope I am wrong, I hate Shields as a person but I think my fellow Brits are in for a rude awakening. She is going to get made to look hopelessly slow & mechanical.

I don't think this is all that competitive.

For me its a classic case of a puncher causing amnesia. She looked like grade a dog**** vs that Femke Hermans until she landed that shot. She is really slow and clumsy and is going to have a torrid time pinning Shields down.

Its wishful thinking imo and I myself hope Marshall does it but tbh its just a Ward vs Froch rerun.
Too fundamentally sound, too much smarts, ring I.Q, athleticism.

I am looking really forward to it, probably the most pumped for a womans fight I've been but for me Shields puts on a clinic.
And while Shields can't punch she has fast hands and I can seriously see her hurting or knock Marshall down, off-balance shots.
She's going to punish that atrocious footwork.

I'm not seeing with it her. The way people talk about her switch hitting and pressure and such I'm expecting to see a female Dmitry Pirog.

Her footwork is a damn eyesore.

When Shields is slightly out of range, she has a tendency to throw big looping rights. Marshall is heavy-handed for sure, and will definitely have counter opportunities. Hanna's activity is very similar to Shields's. Marshall should have fought her first. I think she would have answered the questions about a smaller fighter in her chest with a lot of volumes. Does she shorten up her power shorts or does she hold (might be a good tactic against Shields) and force a reset out of range where she can her length to get off first. The African lady had a Shield's type first for about 2 rounds before she gases but she was a lower-tier fight.

I'm really interested in seeing if Marshall can counter Shields with power shots for the 1st 4-5 rounds. How might the flow of the fight change?

I don't go by amateurs, b/c Shawn Porter dominated Usyk, Andrade, and Jacobs in amateur fights on points.

My gut tells me Shields outboxes her to a clear decision. I kinda get the same vibe as the leadup to the Christina Hammer fight. Hammer was hyped as the true challenge to Claressa and had a far better KO percentage. When the two got in the ring it wasn't even competitive.

Marshall is levels above Hammer but I'm not sure she's on par with Shields.

Once I saw this fight, I asked who was Shield's next opponent.

Haha, that was such a strange situation. I can't remember if it was a DQ or NC. Anne Sophie Mathis had some nasty in her, I remember watching her first fight against Holm when she savagely beat her down. She brought the violence.

Marshall wins. Something you are not factoring in at all, and should be, is how awkward her style is. There is no sparring that can prepare you for that (or her power for that matter). It's not fluid like Shields', but very effective. For Shields to land clean often, on that awkward, unusual style, she has to get close, she gets close, what happens? She gets whacked. It's clear as day Marshall has legit power, whereas Shields couldn't bust a g****. I'm 60-40 in favour of Marshall, and she is rightly the bookies fav imo.

Shields has the better resume, but nobody she beat would be any challenge to Marshall, realistically. It's good they have each other though, as without that, neither have a challenge really. There is no other fight for Shieds I'd care about watching and same goes for Marshall. Nash out.

                Marshall will beat her

Marshall is a different breed of female fighter than what’s around now. She will beat the hell out of Shields, I think her corner pulls her out if she doesn’t get flattened in 5 rounds.

shields isn’t a great boxer at all, she’s just a good boxer by female standards. She gets hit plenty, no real defensive skills. Marshall will find her very easily and smash her up.

In my opinion, womens boxing is on a similar trajectory to womens UFC, not in popularity but the standards improving to the point where the standard changes quite rapidly. Shields had her success because the level of technical skills was extremely low, so her opponents weren’t used to someone with a bit of ability.

but now Marshall is one of a handful of women in boxing history that can really punch, knows how to rotate into her shots, heavy handed etc, goes in there to do damage and knows how to do a job. Like Shields’ opponents weren’t used to her ability, shields isn’t used to what Marshall brings and won’t handle it.

Marshall beats her up after a few rounds. power isn’t everything, so I’m not basing it on the fact one has power and one doesn’t. I’m basing it on the fact Shields isn’t some boxing wizard, she’s average in a pool of crap, so she won’t overcome someone that can beat her up with no respect for her pillow fists and average skills

When she fought on the Eubank Jr undercard she made eubank Jr look like a PRIME MUHAMMED ALI by comparrison, he was light years in front of her in terms of technique, light years.

Shields is supposedly super skilled but she's actually embarrasing wmto watch and wins because her opponents are crap/old/undersized, usually all three.

She also is used to having a big size advantage.

Well savannah is huge, young, strong, decently skilled for a woman boxer, can really punch, will be at home etc.

Tbh I don't know who wins, I could see Shields winning on points but I could also see Marshall having no respect for her and bullying her.
The fight isn't that simple. Maybe it comes down to Marshall keeping it close with hometown cards. Shields is slightly out of range late, throws one of those wild looping rights, and Marshall counters her and drops her. I see Marshall escaping with a controversial SD which sets up a rematch (bonus for fans). What I would say is, that Marshall knows how to turn her hips and get maximum power into shots. Some men can't do that.

I think Shields could win on points.

But I don't think it is Shields who wins or loose this fight, it all depends on Marshall.
If Marshall doesn't care for the flurries from Shields, who can't KO a squirrel, then Marshall can unload some pain and win this.

So, for me, it all depends on how much Marshall wants it.
