  • Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker Believes Joe Joyce Showdown Can Still Be Made

Former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker is pressing for a showdown with Olympic silver medal winner Joe Joyce. The two boxers were in serious discussions to fight each other a few months ago, but that contest fell through when Parker signed a promotional agreement with BOXXER and Sky Sports. Joyce is contractually tied to Frank Warren and BT Sport.

It can and should be made, but no way Joe or any sane boxer takes a fight like this with a title shot right there for him

So he says this after Joyce gets a fight?

Parker is probably right and those words may not have actually been Joyce's but there's a lot of truth in what was said. If Parker wanted that fight so badly why didn't he make it instead of signing a contract that makes it much more difficult?

It depends where on the pecking order they are on for the title shot. It could be a good year and a half before the top of the division works itself out to allow someone like Joyce get his shot. Is Joe happy taking stay busy, low pay fights to just pad his resume? Or does he want to earn some money in his late 30's? Parker is not "dangerous" in that he can hurt Joyce. He sure could box 12 rounds around the near glacier Joyce.

Make the fight. It will be bigger money and Parker is beatable. If you lose, oh well. You still have the bank that you did not have and you are a bigger name. I do not think Joyce should age himself out waiting.

Fair point on the money side. It would have to be decent cash to glean Joyce’s interest

Parker is talking sh.it, he wants no part of Joyce, he only wants Whyte payday.

Parker intentionally signed with another promoter to get out of this fight. He's just trying to save face. But he's not doing a very good job of it. In fact, he's just out and out embarrassing himself now.

Parker ducked the fight, but seeing Joyce move like a turtle, he's encouraged to push for it.

Notice Parker is not mentioning his initial reasons why he didn’t fight Joyce ? That was a crazy excuse about his training expecting a baby on the way .

So he’s giving out offers when he himself said he’s not going to fight until his trainer gets whatever settled . So why is he making offers now and also notice where is the baby and when is it actually do , total nonsense that he couldn’t make it this weekend to that agreed fight ?
