Whenever I see his last name it makes
me think he is partially Irish traveller. So many Joyce’s in the GM area and not too far from Strangeways at that. In any event, good luck to the man with the traveller last name!

“You can see his punches coming from a mile away”. Then why is everyone getting repeatedly hit with them?
There´s no telegraphing or a predictable rhythm to his punches, I guess? Looks like some of his punches are invisible to the opponent.

When Stiverne was on the move towards his title shot he was a guy who would take shots to land his big counters. He did that in his eliminators vs Ray Austin & Arreola. Then again in the Arreola rematch for the vacant WBC belt. He would set his traps by taking big punches then he would counter with his hook & big right hand. It worked effectively until he tried that with Wilder… Wilder pummelled him badly for 12 rounds & he had no answers to Wilder’s attack. His take big shots to counter plan failed. You can only take so many Wilder rights. I suspect Joyce could take a few more than a prime Stiverne but man Stiverne was never the same after that fight & his punch resistance was gone. As you said it is very dangerous to eat rights from Wilder.

I know that he is not going to get the top names. Most other recognizable names are busy or working on other deals. But... Hammer??? Ortiz got hell (and rightly so) for fighting him 2 years ago. That is supposed to get him bigger fights?

Go get that easy payday, Mr. Joyce. More power to you. But not sure it makes you more marketable.
It's weird to me too, at this point Hammer is someone you put in against a prospect, not a a contender like Joyce.

Once a fighter is on the cusp of a title shot, virtually any interim fight is a stay busy fight against someone with a little bit of pulse. Fighters who stray away from that playbook usually risk losing their spot and the potential to make life changing $$$$$. I do not blame the man one bit.

The Juggernaut is all about momentum. Once he is rolling he's hard to get out of the way of, and he lands. There's a relentlessness that wears you down.

I like Joyce; good fighter, nice bloke. Hammer seems like a totally irrelevant opponent for him. When Joyce obliterates him, it will change the boxing landscape not one iota.

The man does deserves a shot at someone near the top of the rankings -- and probably a shot at a championship.

Those saying he throws slow punches are correct. Those saying they frequently land are also correct. He's an interesting guy to watch fight.

Ortiz vs Hammer was a scheduled fight though with months in advance.

Parker dropped out of his Joyce fight ,Hammer is a last minute as they say replacement . The card goes ahead anyway with or without Joyce so people would complain anyway if he didn’t fight at all .
