Winky Wright was a favorite over Hopkins. It's more that they bank on how old the geezer is more than anything else.

That's not true ; Hopkins does have fans. Evidence of this can be seen whenever he fights on the east coast, and particularly close to Philly. Such as Tito, Tarver, and Kelly.

Bernard's fans are a small group, though. Similar to Mosley's fanbase in size ; very small when compared to some of the more popular figures out there that dot the boxing landscape.

Yes I know you were just replying to the other guy saying it'd be douglas-esque. I just replied to your post agreeing with you.

I think upset wise it would be big. Bigger than Pac-DLH but definitely not top 5 biggest upsets ever.

But in the bigger scheme of things if Marquez were to pull it off I think it would remove Floyd entirely from the fighter of the decade discussion and a very justifiable case made that Marquez is the front runner in the fighter of the decade discussion.
Absolutely agreed. And then when you look at Marquez's losses, that factors in as well. His pro debut really can't be held against him, 1st off. Secondly ; I had him beating Chris John by 2-3 points and many others did as well. Norwood was a garbage fight. And then the SD loss to manny that a lot of people thought he won as well.

He'd definitely be a strong contender for fighter of the decade with a win over Floyd, and I would begin to compare him even further with another Mexican great whom he reminds me so much of ; Ricardo Lopez.

They fail to realize that IMO Hopkins has the best defense in the sport. Also, watching Wlad owns and others go from saying how Pavlik would "embarrass, ****, brutalize, and KO Hopkins ending his career" to disowning him completely and saying that he was an embarrassment to his slavic heritage was ****in priceless.
        That **** was comic gold.

bro although I am a pure pacfan, I am also a fan of marco even rooted for him @MAB-EM 3 BUT I could never forget Manny's BEST CAREER WIN ... sorry LOL
I definitely consider it Manny's best win as well. He just dominated that night, and while I was upset that my boy had to go out the way he did ; I was still impressed with Pacquiao's performance overall.

I still can't believe the little dude who thrashed Ledwaba is #1 in the world right now, I remember that fight like it was yesterday.

the question is, when was the last upset bigger than that??? Would it be tyson v douglas (32:1 or something like that), god knows there arent any upsets bigger than that... But would this be a close second?? Would it be upset of the decade???

          Edit:

Would it be bigger than pacquiao over oscar????

          In your eyes??
this would be a way better victory than pac over dlh......

*** the money odds that night, can someone please help me understand how in the hell a natural AND BIGGER THAT NIGHT heavyweight KO'ing a smaller heavyweight, is a bigger upset than a natural superfeather beating an undefeated 'GOAT' (according to his stanley's) ?

JMM is 126-130 prime. MAYBE 135 as he looks good right now.

pbf is obviously a NATURAL 147...he has just grown into it all the way around, quit being delusional fanboys.

Bookies don't give odds more than about 5 or 6 to one, now, because of the Tyson/Douglas fight.

If Marquez manages to pull off the upset here, considering what we've heard now about FMJ deliberately not making weight, it would be about as big as any upset in the history of the sport, maybe the biggest.

Marquez has almost no chance at all. If I were to give realistic odds, I'd say his chance at a win here is maybe 1 in 200.

I'm sure Marquez feels his chances at an "upset" are exactly 100%, which is the only reason there's any chance at all. Mayweather will have to knock him out cold (or kill him) to stop him, because JMM will get up and fight again no matter how many times he goes down. In fact, if FMJ puts JMM on his shorts a couple of times early, it could be the very thing that makes FMJ overconfident and gives JMM the opportunity at a KO win, which would be the only chance he has at all.

Tyson v Douglas would slide down to 2nd biggest upset after JMM win.

32:1 is about how many people bet on Tyson v how many people bet on Douglas, plus Douglas actually had added motivation with his mom and all...which usually plays a factor, see DLH.

What we have here is a 2 weight class disparity with a guy who's never even been close to this weight in his entire career.

This should be the number 1 upset in maybe any sport to date!
150? I'll be surprised if he isn't closer to 154 tonight, or greater.
