Why Did Pac Need To Fight JMM So Many Times

JMM is a favorite of mine due to his tenacity.
His 1st fight with Pac is legendary.

Pac bloodied him up, knocked him down, but could never end him.

This is boxing nobody “needs” to do anything just ask them.
Their first fight had an amazing storyline in the ring. It was a draw which sets up a rematch right there. Each consecutive fight was close aswell. Even the fight where JMM K0’d Manny was close up until the TECATE COUNTER as my family likes to call it. ( play on the street fighter tech counter )
It’s also a Mexican vs a Pinoy which brings in two guaranteed tan bases. Both guys are classy and likeable. Was refreshing.
The fights made money and everyone had an opinion and differences. The action in the ring sold the matchups without the need for verbal abuse or manufactured hate. It was great boxing action at it’s purest form that sold itself. It was legit, clean boxing. Two fighters that seemed to be each others equals. No need for someone to play the bad guy.
I’m impressed we got that many fights between them to be honest, It was four fights and all done in due time for once!
Either fighter could have made an excuse not to continue the rivalry.
All I can say to answer your question is it all happened because they are both classy professional boxers. Rare.

      Absolutely

This thread was inspired by the ''May struggled with Maidana'' thread.
In their fights, I didn't see Maidana land a bunch of scoring punches.

      Screen_Shot_2014-05-04_at_2.29.10_AM.png

      221 ?!?!?!
200 landed on May's shoulders and arms.
      185 power shots ?!?!?

I'm a big proponent of Compubox but I think they flub up a time or 2

More of the same in the rematch.
I'm guessing they score any punch that doesn't miss a body part as I don't recall either guy landing that many ''power'' punches to the head and midsection

      Back to the topic.
While Maidana isn't in JMM's class, JMM isn't that hard to figure out.
Knocking him down 3x in the 1st rd and it being a split draw ?!?
Again, JMM is a tenacious SOB but I can't see a guy like May/PBF letting that happen.

Yep. Maidana tried to bumrush Floyd which I give him credit for attempting. It’s a strategy many thought would be a best chance. The problem is getting countered clean in the face really sucks. Floyd is also much stronger than people expect in the clinch and especially against the ropes. Often a fighter will throw a bunch and most will miss with nothing landing clean and Floyd will land one or two sharp ones white his back is against the ropes. It accentuated his defence, composure, durability, and precision.
I thought the first Maidana v Floyd fight was close. I knew Marcos was getting credit from the announcers who were excited seeing an underdog do better than expected. My brother watched the fight with the sound off ( we both do that sometimes as it can be refreshing and let’s you concentrate without distraction ) and he assured me that Floyd won. I trust his opinion. I remember him watching Tyson Fury’s pro debut and say “He will be HW champ one day.”

They were fan-friendly classic fights, elite fighters with a good storyline, quality fights all 4 of them, like his brothers Rafael Marquez vs Vazquez 4 fights.

Because pac s greater than floyd. 3 razor close, life and death wins if not scorecard error is greater than 1 cheating scales bloated win.
floyd should have triologied pac in a series of memorable fights.
Pac of course rematched jm m as he's a true champ who gives fans what they want, that's why he triologied bradley, offered rematch to cotto. Floyd could have learned a thing or 2 and would have been wise to follow suit

Pac is a great pinoy boxer.
              JMM slept him

Crowd (over)reaction can make a person think something is going on when there really isn't (aside from obvious big shots).
Just like you mentioned, it's nice when an under dog does better than expected. It amps up his score
Maidana gave off the impression of doing work in there.
In Marco's defense, what else other than bum rushing May could he have done ?
And how much better could May have done without having much power ?

Non May fans I'm sure point to Maidana to support their Margarito nonsense.

Your brother is a Svengali. I'm shocked Fury is a champ right now

                  By themselves they are entertaining.
                  Together and it's on

However, guys like May and Bradley didn't need a 2nd fight to show dominance and Pac has more power than both of them.
That 1st fight, an ATG comeback
That last fight, an ATG fight ender
