    Beterbiev vs Smith... Why is it not a BIGGER event?

    As a boxing fan I LOVE this fight.... love my fellow countryman Beterbiev, but also rooting for Joe. This is definitely a can't lose fight for a boxing fan.
    Was also quite surprised that this was regular TV... not PPV.

    Then I was further shocked that this was not at MSG, but at the small MSG Hulu Theater, and PLENTY of tickets still available for as low as $40.

    a 3 belt unification at the freaking Hulu Theater? on Free TV?

    Meanwhile, we have garbage Tank fights on PPV.

    Is Top Rank just not marketing these fighters? Or Do people just don't give a crap about Artur and Joe?

    Matchroom was able to fill the main MSG with Taylor/Seranno.....

      They're not crossover names plus "unifications" are not all they're cracked up to be - especially when one of the guys with a belt already lost to another guy with a belt so effectively got a consolation prize. It's an excellent trade fight, nothing more.

          PpV are you nuts? This is a bonafide killer against a construction worker in a one sided fight.

                      Because Smith is a construction worker that lost to Bivol, Sullivan, and arguably lost to Vlasov. Beterbiev is going to maul him.

                              They're not big names. Beterbiev is not a very active fighter, never became a big name and he may already be past his best. Smith is also not a big name, has been outboxed a few times, and he lost to the other champion in the division. This is still a good fight, but not PPV worthy. Hopefully it turns into a fire fight quickly.

                                  It is a great fight for diehards, but not so great for casuals. Casuals prefer boring guys.
