Prior to the fight Lewis wasn't talking retirement.

While I do think he took Vitali too lightly and got caught by surprise a bit, I don't think he would have retired if he had easily won

Lewis was on his way to a clean KO and he would have done the same in a rematch with better preparation.

Vitali is the one who was lucky that the rematch never materialized cuz if it did, his career might not have unfolded the way it did.

Disagree. Lennox was coming on very strong in that war. Vitalis eye got wrecked from Lennox’s punches, there was no luck involved

yeah lennox was coming on big time. Landing very heavy shots. This scenario vs a guy with the iron chin that Vitali has (among the best ever) is a recipe for disaster

Lennox was scoring more late because Vitali needed to raise his chin to see out of his left eye. I don’t think Lennox wins the rematch and obviously Lewis agreed.

I couldnt stand Lewis back then but I think he did the right thing. It was a fortunate break Lewis got busting him open. I dont think Lewis wins the rematch. He was at the end of his career really and didnt have anything else to prove. I mean your damned if you do damned if you dont.

He deserves a pass because he was nearly 38 at the time with a lot of miles on the clock. Its not like he was a young man in his prime retiring weirdly early to duck someone.

It is not questionable. If a young buck can't put down an old lion, they need to accept it and move on with their career.

Nobody has beaten up Vitali Kiltschko like Lennox Lewis did.

It was clear that Lewis was in his worst condition ever.

Therefore all tactics pretty much went out the window, and he just had to bull Kiltschko.

Lewis caused the most damage, and? He was weathering Kiltschko's attacks and becoming numb to his power.

If the fight would of continued, I think Kiltschko's career may have been effected negatively.

The cut was only going to get worse, Lewis was purposely targeting it with the jab. I personally think Lewis would of won.

I think the fight was turning in Lewis's favor, yes he was being out worked. But he was landing the bigger punches, and causing the most damage.

The strength of Lewis coming forward, was bothering Kiltschko.

                  What a great fight.

Stopping that fight was probably the best thing to happen in Vitalis career. That cut is still probably the top 2 worst cuts I've seen in all my years of watching boxing. Fighters have gotten permanent damage with less than what Vitali had that night

Plus, Vitali gained a lot from that loss in hindsight
