Getting rid of mandatories is never going to happen either.

It was more to the point of ducking a mandatory. Realistically the sports better off without them anyway.

But to your point, the point has been in decline ever since there was more than one belt and all the nonsense that came with it.

Dillian whyte was #1 contender for much longer waiting on wilder no one cared and made the wbc immediately give him a belt. He waited years before they broke him off an interim. Haney ditched Eddie now he’s getting everything he dreamed of. Not hard to see what the issue was in his career

With all due respect I do follow the sport. I see a lot of you making excuses for an act that you’ve condemned in the pat either because you like Loma or despise Haney.

Hearn was definitely part of the problem. That has nothing to do with Loma dropping the belt, requesting to be franchise with his promoter, lying about his involvement, only to have to backtrack once Fat Dan told the whole story.

It's a nice idea but it's never going to happen.

With that fact in place, I'd rather get rid of mandatories totally.

Once in a blue moon you'll get a top fighter like Haney in a mandatory position like he was last weekend, but the vast majority of the time it's crap.

Vergil Ortiz is the #1 contender to Terence Crawford.

Boots Ennis is about to be #1 contender to Errol Spence.

Tim Tszyu is one of the mandos for Jermell Charlo. And the WBC #1 contender for Charlo is Sebastian Fundora.

David Benavidez is the WBC #1 contender for Canelo.

Gilberto Ramirez is the #1 contender to Bivol.

Joe Joyce will be mandatory for the winner of Usyk vs Joshua

Those are all top fighters in their weight class in my opinion. If all mandos were ordered right this minute those would all be great fights.

So it's happening more than once in a blue moon.
