Napoles was one of my favs but he also spent most of his pro career in Mexico he acknowledged he's from the Mexican school of boxing and yet he's arguably the not accomplished Cuban pro ever.
I don't see it that way, Rigondeaux won the biggest fight of his pro career, and he was old already, against nonito, after that all the boxers around his weight went missing, can you imagine if framptom, mares, st+ and quigg, has stepped to the plate? Gamboa, the 126lbs Gamboa, never got the chance to be in a big fight, because everyone was running, Casamayor was robbed against freitas, and you can argue he won against castillo, and have some firefight against corrales, he gave Marquez a run for his money, and he was a drunk and pothead by them, way past his prime. And they all turned professional after hundreds of amateur fights, and old. Napoles is not from the mexican school, he was already a professional boxer when he have to moved to México. He's from the same school that gave us Jose Legra, Ultiminio Ramos, Luis M Rodriguez, Florentino Fernández, Nino Valdes, Kid Paret, Black Bill, Gavilan, Kid Chocolate, Tunero. Common man, I know my history, and of course, Napoles has to feel that way about México, he was embraced there, but never got the chance to feel how proud we were of his accomplishments, he found in México what was taken away, and to all Cubans for that matter, freedom. He could have made his home anywhere in the World, and the embrace would have been the same. In a way, México was lucky to have such a fighter representing them. Viva México. Back to the new wave, they're younger and hungrier. Be safe

Morrell seems to me to be a serious threat and contender at 168 and I would favor him over Plant and Charlo based on what I have seen. He brings a steady pressure and throws shots in close which makes you think he is more experienced in the pros than his record indicates. He also has size and good power.

However I would likely pump the brakes and give him at least one more year of experience with whoever he can get in the ring that is not Benavidez. Not saying he doesn't have a chance against him right now but it would be foolish to fight him this early from a career earnings perspective.

He holds a secondary title already so at some point he will be able to get his mandatory shot.

He will not find a name to fight him, not now, see ryder, not in one year. His best bet is another crazy and talented boxer, benavidez. No need to marinate this one. He's fighting next month, let's see what happens

I suppose. I don’t mind smack talk if it’s good, but it rarely is. I think the only guy I don’t mind it from these days is Fury. He’s got a good lip on him. I tend to prefer my fighters talk with their fists, since most sound silly when they open their mouths to talk trash.

Nah man, you're overthinking it too much, you made a ****** comparison, you got called out and now you're trying to weasel your way out of something petty by using insults and broken English. So back to my point, you really are a special type of rétard.

I can't understand why any fan would be opposed to this fight. Two young guys in their prime, one with 6 fights and pedigree, the other more seasoned in the professional rank, but that's about it. I remember USA Tuesday fights, and Wide World Sport, it was always a couple of undefeated young kids fighting for bragging rights. We enjoy those fights. Nowadays, the fans are playing promoters, and matchmakers, they are even fans of some promotional outfits. Things have changed a lot.

Andrade was supposed to be going up to 168 to fight for WBO "interim" (I e. bullshiyt) title. Then winner of that fight was going to "unify" with WBC "interim".

HAving interim titles when there's a champion in the division is obviously just a way of generating
                    sanctioning fees imo.

                      ...

Morrell aint ready for Benavidez yet, that dude is a fkn monster

props to him for wanting that smoke, and
Morrell is a beast for sure... but I would be very surprised if that fight happens at this point... the timing aint right

Canelo is fighting Golovkin next, and then he will rematch Bivol... Benavidez - and Haymon - should be 100% focused on securing the very next spot on that list... they will only have two opportunities to create enough pressure to force that fight, and they will not achieve that by facing Morrell

either, they need to knock off Plant / Saunders... or they need to knock off Plant / Charlo... before Canelo rematches Bivol... those are the only wins that would create enough pressure to force Canelo to say his name

Morrell brings absolutely nothing to the table, and Benavidez looks to be a little more than he can chew at this point in his career

not saying that fight won't happen down the line, and it is a very good style matchup on paper

if Morrell can deal with Benavidez experience and abrasive punching, and drag fight into the later rounds... I think we will have seen a great fight that could turn into a total fkn war... but Morrell cannot absorb the punishment that Benavidez brings, he would need to avoid it... you will need to be a skilled well-rounded experienced fighter, to beat Benavidez... and I don't see it at this point
