Bernard Hopkins - Legendary or Overratted

Always astonishes me when people see a fighter being listed in the P4P rankings - a hypothetical match-up decided by boxing journalists - as akin to being an actual achievement in and of itself.
As for the thread title, are you asking if Hopkins has too many **** on him?Comment

You'd have to be mentally deficient to rank Mayweather over Hopkins in terms of overall legacy and accomplishment.
He may not have won as many titles in as many weightclasses but his record of competition ****s all over Floyd's.Comment

Mayweather's accomplishments far exceed Hopkins. If Mayweather made his pro debut at super featherweight then moved down two divisons to fight super flyweights. Then you could compare there resumes, but he didn't he moved up, all of floyds opponents knew come fight night Floyd would be about 5 lbs max over the limit. Compare that to Hopkins who moved down to fight smaller guys in a weak division, come fight night his 170 lbs, or at catchweight 170 lbs he walks into the ring 180+lbs. All the big fights for Hopkins were 7 lbs north guys like: Toney, Jones, Eubank, Benn,Collins and later on Calzaghe. Why not reign there, against game opponents, instead of getting paid about 250k to fight Hakkar, Echols x2 etc.
If Hopkins wants to be considered legendary, he needs to fight Dawson.Last edited by Adamantium; 12-15-2009, 03:59 PM.Comment
