Jack Catterall will box on the March 25th Liverpool card. Will only be a tuneup fight but it’s better than him sitting on his hands for another 3-4 months.

Okolie-Light also possibly on this card as well I saw on Twitter? What’s happening with Azeez-Faure?

I don’t think Okolie vs Light will be on the Liverpool card. That’s a strange fight to put in Liverpool as a headliner IMO.

Has it not been announced for the Feb 11th card yet? Or did it get moved or something? I can’t remember tbh.

Just checked and it’s not listed for Feb 11th, surely they pair Azeez-Faure and Okolie-Light together at a London show in March/April. Makes no sense bringing those fights up North IMO, they simply won’t sell tickets.

Been asking about and I think Boxxer still plan to do two shows in March. March 25th in Liverpool is obviously one. They also have a London show scheduled for April unsure on the date.

Boxxer have also been lobbying to the IBF to order Riakporhe vs CBS for the interim or even vacant title. They’d likely have to agree something in principle with Masternak who is ranked above both.

Also I expect Eubank Jr to trigger his rematch clause tomorrow, I’m sure he has two weeks to do so, so Feb 4th should be the deadline.

Definitely makes sense to have the Okolie and Azeez fights in London as you say, hopefully March but April ok also.

The WBC route seems off with the Makabu-Jack winner having to fight Mikaeylan or Kovalev-Mchunu winner, WBA still available though isn’t it, Goulamirian wouldn’t be too hard to bring over surely? What do you reckon their chances of success with the IBF are, I’d think it highly unlikely they strip Opetaia altogether?

Eubank needs to ditch Roy and then I might buy the rematch. As it stands though no interest in seeing him fight again at 160.

Apparently Shalom mentioned Okolie fighting in Liverpool in an interview so there is some credence to that rumour. Would be a strange choice though.

I think Okolie will get the Goulamirian fight. Shalom has to deliver at least one of them a title shot or unification, as we always say, none of these Champions are expensive.

I think it’ll depend on Opetaia’s injury, it was only a broken jaw I think so I doubt he’ll be out long enough to get stripped. The IBF generally don’t f*** about with ratings either, I’d be surprised if they passed over Masternak who’s mandatory. We’re probably more likely to see Riakporhe vs CBS in a final eliminator.

I agree, huge Roy fan but never been convinced by him as a coach, very knowledgeable but it’s near impossible to replicate his style without his athletic gifts that probably 0.001% of people possess. I think Eubank needs to go to 168 as well tbh, his punch resistance isn’t there at 160 IMO.

I'd seen it yh, would be odd, but I guess we'll see. Whittaker must be back at some stage as well, him and Frazer Clarke likely to be on one of those two cards you reckon?

Okolie-Goulamirian would be good, think Goulamirian fights 1st April so possibly sometime in the summer.

I do remember thinking Masternak might be a problem for any Opetaia-UK cruiser fight, what with the injury as well, probably will be a while.

Yes, he was great & I love listening to him speak on boxing, as you say he's an astute guy, but Chris neglected his best attributes, the ones that would give him a chance in most fights, in switching styles. New coach, 164, I'm deffo tuning in for the rematch. Aside from that, I won't be anticipating any different a result.

Anything on who Catterall might fight on the March 26 card? Reckon it'll be someone pretty useless?

Yeah I like that fight for the summer. Yeah Masternak is decent, doesn’t do any thing special but very consistent, good fundamentals and always seems to make it tough for his opposition. I’d argue he’s Bellew’s best win tbh.

I think Liam will demand it be no higher than 160. I’m sure the deadline is today for the clause so hopefully we hear something soon.

Just a tuneup I think mate, the plan is still Taylor rematch in the summer. If they do reschedule it for like the millionth time, I’d suggest they have an opponent on stand by in case Taylor pulls out. Even if it’s a domestic guy like Ohara Davies, Ritson or Robbie Davies Jr.
