Why is it when we see terrible mismatches

Like Benavidez beating up loser Lemieux or Janibek knocking out a guy who might not even be able to pick up a friggin' EBU title we get the "that's why so and so didn't fight him" nonsense? Like Benavidez would do the same to Canelo or Janibek would do that to Munguia or Andrade?

The Benavidez hype is crazy, especially considering we’ve already seen his flaws exposed in past fights. Zhanibek hasn’t put a foot wrong yet and could possibly be a top fighter but I agree the Dignum win essentially means nothing. It’s a step backwards from guys like N’Dam and Brant tbh, blame the WBO on that one.

        benavidez has zero defense

people saw canelo lose to bivol with an advance defense

everyone thinks benavidez can beat canelo because hes won and lost some vacant titles fighting bums over the last 9 years and blocks punches with his face

        makes sense

In Janibek's case, it's pretty clear why Andrade suddenly decided to go up to 168 when he was finally due to fight a mando with a pulse. I think it's just being a good boxing fan to point that out.

It's especially important to point it out in Andrade's case, because people make all these claims about him being avoided, but he does/did the same thing as he accuses others of - not taking a tough fight with no big reward for him.

Benavidez was especially impressive in how he dispatched Lemieux and I don't think most guys want to really test him at 168 (if he can still make that weight consistently) but Canelo has tons of options and just fought a better fighter than him, so I don't see any logic that he is avoiding Benavidez.

I think David himself would tell you that he needs to do a little more to earn a Canelo fight.

I blame the sanctioning bodies for both mismatches. These organizations need to get serious about their rankings before something bad happens.

Maybe Benavidez beats the dog**** out of Canelo and Janibek does the same to Andrade but that's not my point really. You get a handful of idiots making foolish claims after seeing one ridiculous mismatch that couldn't tell anybody anything about what would happen in a real fight but statements were supposedly made.

And when great fighters beat top 10 ranked fighters, they don't get the same credit as that lesser, hyped up fighter gets when they beat up on top 10 or fringe contenders.

                  That tells me two things:

                  1. The fighter who is getting hyped up with his limited resume and mismatch wins, is held to lower standards by fans.

                  AND

                  2. The great fighter who has done what the hyped up fighter did, a dozen times already, but is not getting any credit for it, is held to a ridiculously high standard.

Literally no one on Earth would give Canelo Alvarez an ounce of credit for KO'in David Lemiuex in 1 round. No one. Not one soul would make a thread stating anything like "Durr durr, that's why Mayweather was shook to rematch Canelo". Zero fans. Not even Canelo fans.

It wasn't even seen as a great win for GGG at 160lbs. But the bar is so low for Benavidez, that it was like his Hagler-Hearns moment.

If you thought fan reaction to this win was bad, oh my, stay tuned for the fan reaction if Benavidez beats Plant. That win will solidify him as an All Time Great Super Middleweight.

Remember how many critics gave Andre Ward credit for winning the Super 6 and going on to KO an undefeated Kovalev? None, just excuses. Meanwhile, David Benavidez just stopped world hunger with his win over David Lemiuex.

If you are an actual great boxer with exceptional boxing skills, good luck getting any credit for beating top opponents. If you have shown that you are mediocre and just have some power, KO'ing a few above average fighters, the world is your oyster.

I agree they get overhyped but it's better to beat down an overmatched opponent than have rough monents like Charlo did with Montiel.
