Ohara Davies might be getting the WBA title shot at 140.

I disagree with the Calzaghe-Lacy sanctioning but it wasn’t an egregious decision either. Joe went on to beat Kessler anyway thankfully to clear up any doubt over establishing a lineal title.

Pac-Spence would have definitely been wrong, especially considering a lot of people considered Crawford as the #1 in the division.

All in all though man, I think the Ring remain a generally upstanding organisation. I rarely have any issue with their rankings, rulings etc. Big fan of TBRB too, love the way you can look at their rankings archives month by month too. I hope they remain independent.
You only get one shot to prove you're not like all the others and The Ring blew it for me. That's the only reason TBRB exists in the first place; because The Ring decided to throw away their integrity for marketing purposes.

I wouldn’t go as far to say threw away their integrity, they made a few questionable decisions but they’re very few and far between. I mean look at the examples you listed that’s what? 3 in 15 years? They’re not perfect but their rankings remain credible and valid IMO.

Mendoza should just order a Tournament for it this is one of the dumbest things I've heard but no surprise coming from the WBA

One is too many. They're owned by a promoter and their explicit, given purpose for changing their title policy was that too many titles were vacant.

If nobody earns it the title should stay vacant forever. The only reason to crown a champion is when the best beats the best. Period.

You can take issue with their championship policy that’s fine, but going back to my original point their Rankings are definitely credible. They generally always give a pretty accurate reflection of the top 10 of each division.

They're obsolete. There's no reason at all for The Ring to exist anymore. The TBRB has replaced their usefulness.

The Ring still holds a lot of weight with boxing fans man. Especially the older generation. TBRB don’t really have the recognition yet although I do recognise their rankings as legitimate.
