“CompuBox counted 21 more punches overall for Castano on Saturday night (194-of-610 to 173-of-559). According to CompuBox’s unofficial statistics, Castano landed more power punches (175-of-411 to 142-of-303) and Charlo connected with more jabs (31-of-256 to 19-of-199).”

While I had Castaño beating Charlo in the first fight, that above comment doesn’t explain why Castaño should have won the first fight or was going to get robbed in the rematch. Total punch stats don’t mean anything, round by round stats matter. Rounds are scored round by round, not after a total of 12 rounds.

Castaño was beating Charlo because he landed more power/meaningful punches in more rounds than Charlo did.

Boxing journalists need to present punch stats a lot better than this. Fans lead by example and will wrongfully utilize punch stats like this.

In this case then a ton of fights were robberies. Dawson outlanded Pascal in punches landed over their 11 round fight, but Pascal got the decision. This is because Dawson did THAT good in just a few rounds. Those numbers stacked up because of this. It still didn’t matter on the cards because Pascal did better in more rounds than Dawson, so he was awarded the win, rightfully so.

So yeah, while scores were bogus before the TKO, it’s not due to total punches, it was due to Castaño landing more power punches in more rounds than Charlo.

At the time of the stoppage I did have Charlo pulling slightly ahead. I admit that It was still a very close and difficult fight to score though. There were many swing rounds that were just too close to call.

It does appear that the judges gave Charlo every close round though. However, it's neither here nor there now because they lacked any relevancy on the fight as they weren't needed anyway.

Jermell won by KO stoppage anyhow; Just as I had predicted he would just a short few days ago.

Who the **** cares about scores when someone gets knocked the fsck out?

I picked Castano and was rooting for him but he got starched. Deal with it.

You sound like some kind of douchebag. Both fighters were PBC fighters. Besides; The judges were irrelevant as Castano was knocked out anyhow. So just take it easy kid and relax! I know that the Canelo loss was very hard on you but that's life.

It just only goes to show that our heroes are human after all. Sometimes they win and sometimes they lose. Alvarez should have taken the PBC/Showtime deal in the first place. He only has himself to blame for the Bivol loss.

However, instead he made himself look like a complete idiot and fool by jumping up a weight class in order to avoid the stiffer challenges and competition in his own weight division of a 168 lbs; So he thought as he underestimated Dmitry.

i agree. It was somewhere in the ball park of 6-3 or 5-4 for Charlo as I had him slightly edging in the fight.

Some fights the rounds are so easy to score it doesn’t make a difference. But when Farhood would show his card I felt like we were watching the same fight.
I saw that - Charlo won rounds 7,8 and 9 clean as Castano's aggression dropped. I'm fine with 6-3 Charlo - 8-1 is ridiculous and means Feldman only gave one of the first 5 rounds to Castano - thats not right.

it is another example of an on-going problem which is damaging boxing, this time it didn't matter, but what about next time?
                      - so I'd say it is is an issue
                      - like someone dangerous driving but no accident has happened yet - still is an issue if you live near that person
