well, Im not going to say 'sculpted'...I dont know who taught Jr more.
but saying Sr should get huge credit as a trainer because he taught his ATG son is like saying Roy Jones Sr should be considered an excellent trainer because he trained Jones Jr since he was a child.
...I think most people will agree that Jones Sr is not a very good trainer.
fact of the matter is that Sr was imprisoned in 1993 until 1998, and then Jr couldnt stand him and got rid of him again in 2000.
Roger has been the trainer of Jr for most of his career.
well, thats not much of an argument.dont mind this ***** hes just a dumb ****. ive been reading his passed posts and this ***** got floyds gorilla piss dripping down his mouth.
at least make an effort to come up with something.Last edited by Steak; 09-17-2009, 07:52 PM.Comment

Roger Mayweather took away Mayweather's great jab but improved his right.Comment

Floyd Sr. is funnier and some of his conceptions of boxing are the same as mine. Learn how to Defend and counter before you know how to attack.Comment

I don't know this as fact, but I have heard from several sources including John Scully that Roy Sr was excellent at devoloping young fighters. His success with professionals aside, I think Roy Sr, and Floyd Sr both deserve credit in laying down the foundation for their sons.Comment

thats fair enough.

I just dont think Sr's track record with fighters is very good.
Roach, on the other hand, is more consistant with his fighters' performance. its not too often they have a terrible night. he doesnt teach that many 'new' things, but keeps them in shape and plays to their strengths.
which imo is fundamental for a high level trainer.
although on the other hand, I think some trainers are good at teaching yougn raw fighters, while other ones are good at training guys who are much more experienced.
so theres a lot to go by when 'judging' trainers.Comment

I can agree with all of this. In my opinion a lot of it has to do with the chemistry between fighter and trainer. Billy Graham seemed to have gotten the most out of Hatton. Jack Leow has had Pav forever. I don't know to many who would call him a great trainer, but he knows the right buttons to get the most out of Kelly. I thought Floyd did a good job with stevie Forbes when he had him. But once these fighters (any fighter) moves on, they have to find the right fit again. Does that make sense?thats fair enough.

makes sense to me. some trainers are better in different situations, just as every fight is different.I can agree with all of this.
