I agree. I forgot to mention those fights as well. Canelo really has more than two losses on his record if we're being honest.

I think Manny had a better time adapting. His reckless flurries were replaced with smarter, less frequent flurries. His footwork and angles were always exceptional and he had a supreme gas tank. He was able to rack up convincing victories while going the distance on several occasions. Canelo has room to improve but I wonder how can he improve his gas tank and can he get better at footwork?

The stamina issues are because he throws all his punches at 100%. Even Bivol said this.

At this point a lot of the blame has to go to Eddie Reynoso. Rey Martinez, Oscar Valdez, and Canelo have all lost this year in a similar fashion under his watch. No adjustments, no jabs, and very little boxing ability in cutting off the ring.

Canelo 4-5 year ago was throwing nice combinations.....now it is nothing but single big power shots.

About no jabs, it is what it is.... It's simply because they can't do it against those opponents... Imagine Martinez outjabbing Chocolatito, Valdez outjabbing Shakur , Nelo outjabbing Bivol

This is boxing at the highest level and Rey, Oscar, Canelo and Eddie Reynoso are all marketed as elite.....surely they should know how to jab effectively. If not jab then how to set up punches and set up traps. I did not see any of that in their last fights.

It's not easy to land a jab against a taller opponent especially when you have short arms like Canelo.

Canelo has a history of gassing out in the later rounds but he's been so dominant that it's not often noticeable. By the time he's entering the later rounds he's already broken down his opponents to the point that they're offense decreases considerably or they get knocked out.
Bivol isn't even "slick", though. He's pretty robotic and predictable, which is why I'm surprised he was able to manhandle Canelo.

Great Post and I agree. Canelo can jab well, his opponent took that weapon away from him. One could perhaps argue that a really elite jaber could split the gloves of Bivol... but that requires a great deal of accuracy with that punch. Canelo has the accuracy with his hooks to the body and his right... Not so sure about his jab when the opponent can walk him down.

I agree that the jab sets up the other punches and traps but why throw a jab when your opponent's jab almost always lands first?
