Against Floyd he was dominated a bit more but I think he actually looked much better as a fighter. He actually tried to box much more, threw more punches, jabs, with overall more offensive variety. It shows in the punch stats also. I always laughed at the 'canelo has improved so much' crap, and its been proven to be total crap now. He has actually regressed as a fighter as he turned into a mediocre Tyson wanna be looking for the 1 big punch. lol.

Bivol actually traded with Canelo. He had Canelo on the retreat more times than not while not even getting hit. it was incredible. Canelo had 2-3 slugs, but Bivol had like 15 clip. It was like a handgun vs a machine gun.

Floyd didn't throw combos.

He looked slow and sluggish. Against floyd he had speed, but could not match floyd's speed.

Because Canelo is really a middleweight but he's made all that money he doesn't want to cut the weight anymore. Let's be honest, Smith, Plant and BJS are C level fighters. Canelo's deficiencies were hidden in those fights. It's really amazing how activity, movement and a simple 1-2 nullifies what's supposed to be the best boxer in the game.

He absolutely would not destroy Floyd...If in this hypothetical he is the same fighter but at 154? No way, the same flaws he showed against Floyd, he showed vs Bivol. Canelo just isn't on Floyd's level and there is a terrible styles match up for him.

I agree with the OP though. Canelo definitely looked better vs Floyd. Against Bivol, he loaded up on every single shot and was not active at all and gassed out after four rounds. Too comfortable now while he was hungrier when he was 23 years old trying to make his imprint in the game.
