How do you counter punch a well skilled guy that is able to throw 5-6 punches in one combo?

He can counter punch single shot's well.

He does not have the skill and timing to counter punch in between a 4-6 punch combo. Floyd is able to, iirc correct he almost knocked Oscars head of with his counter right. He then caught Canelo with a very simillar counter.

I know the one youre talking about, floyd would lay against the ropes it looks like he is trapped but really you have more control over distance than it appears if you lean back into the ropes, like Ali did the same thing. He then countered DLH with that right hand from the philly shell.

A frustrated canelo tried to bait Bivol into giving him countering opportunities from the ropes but Bivol didnt fall for it at all, didnt care if the crowd likes it or not. Hes calculated.

And if he landed a good combination he didnt go wild trying to follow it up, he let those points count for what they were, built up a huge lead over canelo over time.
Very smart boxing from Bivol last night. Very smart!

From round one Canelo was looking to assert dominance. He hit HARD and i you see the venom he tried putting in to his shots. He missed a coupla shots to the dome but those shots he uses to serve as warning shots to let his opponent know his power. That tactic did not work against Bivol as he was durable and built to last. I loved his patience. I cannot remember the round but Canelo was on the ropes and saying "come on!" to Bivol after he had just unleashed a good combo which connected a good percentage of the shots. Bivol just did not respond to that gesture and remained poised. Highly disciplined guy!!

Yes mentioned this in the my post just above this. Very calculated and i was impressed! That showed discipline and being in control. He ate some big shots ( upper cuts ) but he had his chin tucked firmly down shoulders up and very compact. His defence was solid last night.

Actually, I was thinking Virgil Hunter. Is he really a great trainer or he just end up with a good fighter?

He will not look the same and can not fight the same way against heavyweights tactically when you are giving up so many physical advantages to guys bigger, taller, longer, hit harder and can take bigger punches.
Canelo was 14 when he entered the pros at 154. Fully grown and developped Canelo is not a 154 fighter. His natural weight would be 168. So could be Bivol’s by the way. Bivol is a small LHW. Bivol and Canelo walk around at the same weight between fights.

                  Clown post.
