Comments Thread For: Hearn on Bivol-Canelo Rematch Clause: Ultimately Up To Saul To Active It

To me, its simple: Bivol danced circles round him, wore him out, and didn't fold when presented with his power, either.
Canelo looking off is, I believe, him realizing his work is having no effect. Maybe gotten a bit too used to his power?
This is why I said earlier he's going to have to get fitter, get lighter on his feet, and try coming forward. Might be able to steal a decision on points, or find some openings by putting Bivol under pressure.
Just plodding forward and finding single shots isn't going to work. He's going to have to up the activity and put more combos together. For that, his conditioning will have to improve
I'm not shocked by the outcome of this fight, either. It was bound to happen. The more Canelo gets in the ring with true light heavyweights (in size and power) that can actually fight,...... he'll struggle. He was kidding himself by thinking he could conquer the light heavyweight division. It's happened before though. One of arguably the best boxers of all time, Sugar Ray Robinson, hit his ceiling in try to challenge at a superior weight class.Comment

I didn't say Canelo looked off, someone else did. I take nothing away from Canelo. He really doesn't seem to be a flawed fighter. He's actually active and effective in the ring enough. And let's not act like he can't make adjustments. He's done this before. Just look at the two different Canelos in his 1st and 2nd fights against GGG. I just pointed out my observations for this fight. He actually met more than his match against Bivol. He could not make enough adjustments in this fight, and what he had, wasn't effective enough.

Oh no, he can certainly make adjustments as I said in earlier comment (to someone else) for the same reasons you did. He’s already showed it before.

The rematch makes sense but unless Canelo changes drastically, I don’t see it going any different. Canelo was beaten to the punch and dominated throughout most of the rounds. He gassed out. I just don’t see him winning a rematch. All in allC my boy GGG is gonna get screwed once again because Canelo may not want to face him in September. Meaning G will be another year older by the time they meet.Comment
