I don't see many NBA players have the body types for high level boxing, but the NFL does steal talent that is very obvious.

This should pretty much end any thread when someone asks the question.

What proof is there of this? The one prime NFL all-pro who entered the UFC is nothing but a can crusher with no chin and average power, who gets beat by every decent fighter he's faced. They are different sports.

There is no proof and it's just a ridiculous assumption.

Fighting and dunking hoops are so wildly different, it's just utter nonsense.

It's an ego thing plain and simple, a nice easy excuse "oh America would be dominating if it wasn't for the NBA"

            Good lord.

This has been said for years before it ever showed up on this board b/c of the contracts a lot of kids go into football and basketball vs boxing gyms. You usually get the great ones young.

Even if it WAS the truth, you could say the same thing about every other country as well, I don't think boxing is the #1 sport in any country. For most of the world its soccer BY FAR. Most soccer players are under 168lb so you could EASILY say the only reason America is good at lower weights is because all the great international fighters are playing in the champions league.

                Which would also be laughable.

Theres obviously gonna be a lot of would be great HWs going into basketball or American football instead, but yeah, theres like a thousand pro HWs on the whole planet, and about a third are American even now. Its just not a priority sport for athletic talent anywhere, even when it comes to 200+ lb'ers.
