As for Hearn, I think he's as sleezy and slimy as the rest of the promoters. No more, no less.
Canelo had two options offered to him, he went with the one that offered the greater challenge in Bivol and a 3rd fight with a guy many felt he already lost to. He came up short. It's really just that simple.
So my comment was about hearn having a negative impact on good boxers legacies. You sounded off like I was dissing Canelo (I really wasn't, but it looks like while with hearn his legacy will be tarnished), but we seem to agree about him mostly. We seem to agree about hearn and P4P. So I'm lost ... you quoted me and implied there was a problem??

    • Canelo seems to get a lot of **** for his buck from judges, I guess mostly because he comes forward ... like he wants to mix it up. It doesn't seem to enter judges equations whether he is actually being effective or not. Bivol put on a boxing clinic (he usually does), but it seems the judges give Canelo rounds for "being aggressive", even when he is getting tagged and rendered mostly ineffective. At least that's the only sense I can make out of that judging debacle .... much like the Mayweather fight.

I think promoters and boxing organizations need an examination and licensing process for prospective judges. What makes these guys qualified besides having connections with promoters and boxing orgs? All over the world, professional and amaeur level judging is often abysmal. There has to be a better way of finding qualified, non-biased judges. I also agree the judges for this fight should pretty much be banned or boycotted. Those scores (from a marquee championship fight) make boxing unreputable. Unreal that the betting market tolerates this. I won a bit on this fight, but ... a draw going into the final round??

      Beyond ridiculous.

My response to your post was because you saw the need to make this about Mayweather and then I corrected you in that Mayweather rematched those who gave him the most trouble AND won titles from jr lightweight to light middleweight…I will also add that Canelo himself was famous for creating catxhwrights for his fights you’re just too biased to know the facts. You strike me ad a man who watches boxing only because he can relate ethnically to certain fighters

Didn't Charlo struggle with a 154 lber in his last fight lmao? Didn't Benavidez take a while to break down and stop another fighting coming up in weight in his last fight? And now he's fighting a blown up 160 lber in David Lemieux but you are hating on Canelo for taking a challenge up a weight class that not many would take? Benavidez says he would go to 175 for a fight but he isn't even fighting 168 lbers.

Charlo is fighting Sulecki next for Christ's sake just think about that a 160 lber with no power but he can't keep Canelo and Benavidez name out of his mouth even though he himself knows he will never sign the contract.

Don't even get me started on chinny Andrade dude get's hurt by Liam Williams and fought scared for the rest of the fight his only credible win is a close decision with Vanes Martirosyan everyone else he has fought has gone on to do nothing including Vanes and Liam.
Pretty much. They're all over the internet relieved Canelo lost acting like Andrade and Charlotte would've done better.

I went back through the thread and I actually didn't intend to reply to your post, rather the post that you replied to (and agreed with).

To the original point; I don't think Hearn is any worse than any other promoter for legacy. I can't think of any fighter that PBC has taken to great heights for their legacy (Spence about the closest). PBC lined Fury up for Wilder and we see how that went. As for Top Rank, Mayweather left Bob and then went about creating his legacy. Pacquiao ultimately left him as well. Bob let how many career defining fights go up in smoke so they could "marinate"?

Promoters are there to generate revenue for themselves and (hopefully) their fighters. It's ultimately up to the fighter to determine if he wants to chase legacy and/or money. Canelo knew what the fights were before he signed his two fight contract with Hearn over PBC. The loss is on him and his team, it has nothing to do with Hearn.

            • Next fight at 168, possibly, to negate the weight (dis) advantage. But the sport needs fairer judges. Could be great trilogy. Canelo is good fighter, needs to review the fight and figure out what went wrong, adjust. Same for Bivol, now that he knows what Canelo is capable of, can adjust and go for the kill.

Actually, they may still want a fight with him, because now they know he can be beaten.

Now, why would a natural LHW drain himself down to fight @ 168? Bivol's been fighting at 175 his entire career. Going down help give little guy Canelo an advantage makes zero sense.

To get the fight. Might be one of the conditions canelo puts forward, and bivol might be willing to accept because of the money and because he believes he might be able to beat canelo at 168 as well. He also said that might give him all the belts at 168, i was not following, but could be another reason. This was in bivols own interview next day after the fight.
