Eddie Hearn: Matchroom will take over America in 2 years time

Hearn was the usual full of himself guy today as he did an interview but one thing stood out, he said that matchroom will takeover and be the number 1 promotional company in the US in 2 years time. He said Bob arum is 90 years old and PBC don’t have a front guy who speaks up as Al haymon is always in the shadows so the fans don’t get to see him and he feels that is one of their weak points. He also stated that he feels some of these promotional companies are going to end up folding or bankrupt the way they are running their businesses.

I don’t live in America, but does Eddie have a point? Do you agree with him that they’ll be the number one in America in 2 years. Is he big in America now? I would’ve thought whoever has espn would always be the biggest as that’s the channel everyone watches over there.

He doesn't have much of a roster here but one thing he is right about is that a lot of other companies are going to go bankrupt. They are paying the fighters far more than they draw in Revenue. That is not a system for success.

Not likely. Hearn/Matchroom/DAZN hasn’t made a big splash in the US so far and likely won’t in the future. Their biggest calling card was not having to pay ppv prices for their biggest stars (Canelo, AJ) and now that’s out the window and the rest of their roster just isn’t that appealing, especially in the US.

Looking at the Canelo fight last year and Taylor this year, Matchroom are obviously big enough in the US to make a huge impact.

Eddie, for all his talk, knows how to sell a fight.

The biggest promotional company? Will be tough.

I imagine whoever takes over after Bob will have more energy and be able to promote fights a bit more, will be interesting. And PBC just seem to have boxers wrapped around their fingers.

But, Matchroom are certainly players. I don't think there's enough space for 3 promotional companies not willing to work together for long.

While some of this is true the thing I'll point out is that it wasnt Hearns billion dollars.

I think Eddie has a real challenge in the US, which has proven to be a very xenophobic market where fighters would rather close ranks and lose money than see a foreign guy take over.

But that said he is right about Arum being old, Warren being also old and in debt, Hearns biggest enemy is himself to be honest.

Hearn needs to learn that you have to play to the yanks egos, tell them America is amazing and you love it etc and they will like you more, if you make them feel threatened they will hate you, they are a lot more sensetive than brits who like Hearns egotistical BS.

It's not complex but hearn needs to be more political.
