If you let Dana Whyte promote it maybe , Fury isn’t anywhere near as popular as McGregor still and no one still knows Ngannou really . I mean you have to promote mega fights ,Arum just ain’t got it anymore. I wonder what the PPV numbers hit in the states for the Fury fight ?

Make Nash laugh when UFC fans say Ngannou punches harder than Wilder, based on some daft measurement of some kind. Nash once watched Ngannou land flush, 5 bombs in a row in those tiny UFC gloves and barely effected the guy at all. Wilder would splatter anyone in one shot in those gloves. Nash out.

Even without Mayweather in the equation, I think people forget what a phenomenon Conor McGregor was for a moment in time in terms of popularity, He was the biggest crossover star in combat sports at the time. He was arguably the A side in that fight in terms of popularity and support, just not in the split and contract. Then add Mayweather to the mix, the biggest grossing boxer of all time with PPV records etc..


Fury is certainly a big star now, but Ngannou hasn’t got anywhere near the stardom McGregor had. Even my grandparents knew who McGregor was and my sisters who care very little about sport. The average Joe on the street doesn’t know who Ngannou is.

Also, the Floyd v McGregor fight took the mystique out of it for casuals in terms of boxing v UFC. An old retired Floyd carried a prime McGregor. I think the reality of that would affect the hype for this one of its mostly boxing rules

still, it’ll be huge I’m sure but not Floyd v Conor levels.

McGregor carried his weight in the promotion but he was not arguably the A side. At this point people just want to see him lose, so he's become the Mayweather of UFC except he's collecting losses instead of wins since he was never as good as people made him out to be.

The hybrid aspect of this potential fight actually seems intriguing but I think it would be even more intriguing if the fight was an official sanctioned boxing match.

Now compare Ngannou's to McGregors.

Nonsense, go back to the press conferences in arenas, it was complete pro mcgregor. You don’t do that many PPV buys without it being majority casuals and most of them were pro McGregor too

Oh, I see. I just thought that it was a bit strange for him to be con****uously absent from perhaps the biggest event in Tyson Fury's career; Given that he was his co-promoter and all and also coupled with the fact it was Tyson Fury's last professional prizefight.
