Fury has to say that Wilder is second best because his record is almost entirely comprised of Wilder fights. The only other opponents of note are Klitschko in 2015, Derek Chisora in 2014, and of course Dillian Whyte. He hasn't fought Usyk, Joshua, Ruiz, Parker, who are the other top ranked active fighters. Eye test suggests he probably beats most of them, but his resume just isn't there with heavyweight greats, so his ego requires him to talk up the one top 10 fighter he's actually beaten.

Why should Wilder even have to fight for the title if Fury retires?

Nobody has defended the WBC title more times than Wilder and nobody has been KTFO by Tyson Fury more times than Wilder. If Fury retires, Wilder should become WBC champion again by default.

Wilder is solidly second best HW of the generation. (Usyk still needs more fights.) Not a bad idea. He dropped Fury 4 times and almost KTFOed him in the first bout.

why is wilder the 2nd best? his resume is terrible and nowhere on par with many others. is this fantasy based or something? is steve cunningham the third best cause he dropped fury?

Someone had a thread saying that wilder is the 2nd best heavyweight of this era. I actually agree. When all is said and done wilder maybe the 2nd best of this era. And the 3 fights between fury and wilder were the best this era had to give. But usyk could show us something just that I doubt he will be champ for any decent amount of time before being outweighed and clipped. also......whyte/Joshua all overrated to tard levels. Wilder of all people may go down as the 2nd guy of this era. Whyte shouldn't even be in the top 100 of this era.

his resume is terrible. why would he be 2nd best? whyte's resume is much better but hes overrated lol. this is a prime example of people falling for hype and making things up in their minds.

wilder was mentally annihilated in the 3rd fight being I thought it would be impossible to shut his mouth. but it has been shut since the fight for a long time. also I think he is damaged severely physically

And mentally as he and his fans refused to believe anyone could ever beat him. Even though Fury had already beaten him twice.

Wilder versus a top ranked guy ? Won't happen, he didn't used to yell out BUMSQUAD for no reason, unranked bums is all he ever fought.
