He still has by far the best roster, can put on the strongest cards etc. I’ll happily admit that. How long it lasts without Sky though I’m not too sure but Matchroom is clearly still the #1 promotional outfit in the UK.
I actually used to like Hearn, thought he was a breath of great air from 2011-2013. But as soon as Sky reinstated the PPV model after Froch-Kessler 2 it quickly became obvious Hearn wasn’t willing to invest in the sport. The Matchroom/Sky model was all about take, take, take and milking the fans dry.
I’m behind Boxxer at the moment because they’re giving us fights like Eubank-Williams, Taylor-Catterall as part of the subscription package, just like Hearn was giving us Froch-Bute, Burns-Crawford 8-10 years back. But, I can guarantee the moment Boxxer takeover in the UK they’ll adopt the exact same business model Matchroom had with Sky. It’s how it’s been in the UK for decades.
