Benavidez has plenty of time to fight another big name in the divison.
No, let's not. If Canelo doesn't want to fight the top fighters at 168 then he should vacate at 168. Anybody that doesn't understand that is a Canelo fan boy and not a boxing fan.

This is the question that no one can ever answer. Whether you like Canelo or hate his guts he never showed any interest in the belt until Benavidez was stripped of it. That was a sucker move if there ever was one. There is no spin that can be put on this. None whatsoever. It was a coward's move.

Then dazn added a third fight for a max of 160 mil. Now There’s guaranteed money and then there’s Ppv cuts. Just do a little research and see how much extra money Canelo was paid on top of his guarantee for his successful Ppv events and figure it out. For example, he made an additional 35 mil vs ggg just in Ppv cut. Take into consideration his regular Ppv buys (bought via cable company) do much better than any of his dazn numbers because dazn is not as good at promoting and not everyone (especially the older generation) is willing to pay for and use an app. So 100 mil plus Ppv cuts for 2 fights could get him in that 160 range while the 3 fight dazn deal is worth “up to 160 mil” meaning it won’t exceed 160. So overall, canelo would be making more per fight with pbc and possibly could be in the same 160 range for just 2 fights if the Ppv fights do well. And let’s be real, if he did 800k vs plant on regular Ppv with pbc, isn’t it safe to believe he’d do better numbers vs Charlo and Benavidez?
The total three-fight package is priced at 160 million on DAZN. All three of these contests will be shown on DAZN pay-per-view, which won’t make many fans happy.

DAZN subscribers will need to shell out potentially $180 to watch Canelo Alvarez’s three fights on the platform in 2022.

Guess I need to break it down simpler. 160 is the max he will make for 3 fights with pbc. 100 plus Ppv upside for just 2 fights with pbc could get him in that same range for 1 less fight. And like you said, dazn subscribers aren’t happy with this Ppv concept which honestly will impact his sales and means that 160 from dazn may not even be 160.
