Between Liston & Foreman it was definitely Foreman who gave the hardest fight. Liston didn't really do jack to Ali either time. Even though Ali did the famous rope-a-dope to Foreman, Big George was still landing some big ass shots, even if most of them were to Ali's arms. Foreman blocked shots hurt too.

Holmes gave Ali his worst beating I thought. I just feel sick seeing that fight. Ali had no business in that ring at that point, period.

The worst I've seen him hurt in his prime was against Henry Cooper. In terms of dragging him into a war I'd go with Frazier.

His fights with Norton weren't exactly easy either. Matter of fact, Norton's the only guy to break Ali's jaw..

Out of the two id have to say Foreman as the only time Ali looked as though he was in any trouble at all against Liston was when he claimed he couldnt see during the first fight, the knockout in the second also looked very dubious, the fight had barley started.
Overall though i dont think there is any question that Fraizer pushed him to the limit like no one else at the time could.

It would have been a better thread if you said Norton and Frazier..
