What's so great about George Foreman?

Okay, he has huge punching power - that counts for alot.

    But:

    -He's slow
-He's sloppy (hands low, lazy jab, wild roundhouse punches)
-He has almost no defensive skills
-He launches only knockout punches, and so tends to punch himself out, instead of throwing a variety of shots, some intended just to score or set up bigger shots.

note: i've only seen fights of his from the 70s (Fraizer, Ali, Lyle), so maybe he was a more developed fighter during his second run in the 80s/90s, i'm not sure...

Foreman could be beat if you could get him into the later rounds ( see him vs. JImmy Young ), His technique was terrible ( see him vs. Ali ), he didn't pace himself and his defense was non existant ( see him vs Ron Lyle ), but....he was THE MOST POWERFUL prize fighter who EVER LIVED ( see him vs 68 KNOCKOUT victims ).

the george of the 80/90 comebacks was alot more defensive and faught smarter fights, i agree that he was sloppy in his early days.

He's punches goes through his opponents defense. And yeah, he tried to fight more smarter during his comeback trail because he was old enough to know he can't take too much punishment heads-on (well, maybe during the fight, but it's the long term we're talking about here). There were three different prime Foreman. Prime Foreman, prime Big George, and prime Grillmeister. And possibly prime "56" later this year.
