I had picked Murata, more of a anti-Golovkin pick than a pro-Murata pick. Just thought at 40 years old, with all the abuse he has taken, his low level of opponents over the last couple of years and his year and a half of inactivity that a younger, focused Murata would find a way. Instead, the Golovkin recovered and showed he is not done quite yet.

Whatever happens next, Golovkin gets to take his 2 belts home and enjoy this for a while. Sounds like Murata has no reason to feel ashamed. He left it all in the ring.

As entertaining as this fight was murata is no canelo, Canelo will have a field day with this version of G. G was breathing heavy throughout this fight, Pointless fight vs ginger but a cash out. Theres more winnable options at 160/168 then G then Canelo.

I dont think he's done. I just don't think at this stage he can beat Canelo. Put Charlo or Munguia in front of him and he beats them. At this point Canelo is probably the only fight he should not take. However, he has the burning desire for that 3rd fight. I hope it doesn't happen because I dont want to see GGG get battered into retirement.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still watching the 3rd fight, and yeah, Golovkin could beat quite a few names, but its clear he's lost (1) reflexes, and (2) balance.

For a guy that stays in the firing line, these factors are the difference between him winning fights with some bruising, and winning fights with life-changing injuries. To me, he looked like a guy that's taken some neurological damage, and I'm not sure its worth him carrying on on that basis.

I think there is a burning desire to get back in there with Canelo, even at 40. He feels he was robbed in both fights, (I agree with him on fight 1) and wants to avenge the loss. I personally think Canelo at this stage of their careers might be too much for him. I don't think Canelo would knock him out, but it could be a very wide decision if not referee stoppage later in the fight. I'd rather see him fight Charlo and beat him and then ride off into the sunset.

Golovkin vs Charlo would be a worthwhile fight too, but it’s not nearly as big of a fight and I’m sure Golovkin would rather go for the gold rather than fight for a smaller prize. It’s Golovkin’s last hurrah. I think he should aim for the biggest accolades and money.

Great performance from a 40 year old GGG but Murata gave him problems first 4 rounds. Canelo will punish this version of GGG but props to Golovkin for weathering the storm tonight and winning impressively.

I agree with you. I'm sure its more to do with pride for GGG fighting Canelo one more time and it is 100% the biggest draw out there. We'll see what happens, but one thing is for sure, the fight has to happen by later summer or early fall at the latest. GGG can't afford to be inactive for long periods anymore.

GGG already beat canelo twice. I understand why Canelo wants to fight 40 years old version now.
