  • Comments Thread For: Patrick Teixeira-Glen Tapia Discussed For April 9 Garcia-Tagoe Undercard

Patrick Teixeira has a new fight date after watching the past two fall through for reasons well beyond his control. The former WBO junior middleweight titlist has been added to the already announced April 9 Golden Boy Promotions show at Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Teixeira will face New Jersey's Glen Tapia in a scheduled ten-round junior middleweight bout as confirmed to BoxingScene.com by Patrick Nascimento, Teixeira's career-long manager.

This is shameful. Tapia shouldn't even be allowed to look in the direction of a ring.

Tapia is an accident waiting to happen, as they say.

Tapia still fighting? Damn. This dude is been clearly showing signs of the damage he's taken. Those KO losses were all brutal. Hope he isn't the next casualty of the sport.

Glenn Tapia had a buzz and a following in New Jersey, the minute he stepped up he got stopped and continues to be a C level fighter.

I was there in the arena the night that Tapia's career turned. He was facing Kirkland and had a decent first round but started getting hit and faded. Tapia ended up taking a hellacious beating and suffered a brutal stoppage.

He was never quite the same after that fight. He's been well past shopworn for a while and he really doesn't react well to punches the last handful of fights I've seen of his. How he is still boxing is beyond me. The unfortunate side to this sport.
