Floyd was getting hammered in articles from everyone when Cotto-Margarito was signed, he knew he was going to be almost forced to fight the winner.

Mayweather was talking about the Hatton rematch long before Hatton-Pacquiao. I think he even mentioned it before Hatton-Lazcano.
He had a hand injury which made him sit out until later in the year...there was an article on it by ESPN...I'll find it

I don't see why you would turn down a big payday against DLH...he could have retired after that fight...he retired before the outcome of Margarito-Cotto...

You have the right to ur opinion tho, I don't think he ducked Margarito and I don't think Margarito stood much of a chance to begin with...Cotto and Shane are another story tho...

Everything in Floyd's style is very wrong for Margarito...

Margarito has to wear an opponent down...you can't wear down what you can't hit...

Floyd doesn't do business with Bob Arum...I don't believe Floyd feared Margarito...

Margarito was just hung on to by those who dislike Floyd...first it was Margarito, then it was Cotto, then it was Mosley, then it was Pacquiao...

People just wanna see Floyd lose....end of story
There are, but it's not always about that.

Ask around, see how many people think Caballero is gonna beat Juan Manuel Lopez.

There are fights that have to happen, regardless of what most people think. Would if Margarito had walked (ran) down Floyd and he'd have crumbled under the pressure and the constant punch dodging? Upsets happen in boxing. That's why the fights are fought in the ring and not on paper.

Pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. rejected promoter Bob Arum's $8 million offer to fight welterweight titlist Antonio Margarito, and he instead exercised a provision in his contract to buy Arum out and become a promotional free agent, Arum told ESPN.com on Monday.

According to Arum, Mayweather turned down the career-best purse to meet Margarito on Aug. 12 on HBO Pay-Per-View, instead opting for free agency by buying Arum out of their deal for $750,000.

"I did hear from him," Arum said of Mayweather. "He decided not to fight this summer. I made him a tremendous offer. I think Margarito is the riskiest fight for him of anyone out there."

Mayweather adviser Leonard Ellerbe told ESPN.com that Mayweather passed on the fight not because he is ducking Margarito, but because he couldn't be ready to fight by Aug. 12. Mayweather injured his right hand during a dominating April 8 victory against Zab Judah.

More than 12 months passed between the Judah and Baldomir. Are you trying to say May couldn't have fit a guaranteed $8 mil payday in 12 months?

Even if Margarito would have beaten Williams, I don't see Floyd trying to take that fight, but whatever.

          I'll agree to disagree.

Floyd called out Freitas and Casamayor. But none want him. Wanting to make big fights, he is willing to move up to fight Gatti.

I cant say about the Welterweights. I dont know whos ducking who.

Would you not pursue a fight with Oscar De La Hoya?

You can make a list of fighters that every single boxer should have faced.

Floyd never fought any of them, but he still has a very good resume.

                      Michael Rosenthal

Some of these are legit and others are just reaching.
