For the slow. Even Hearn admits it, the economics didn’t make sense for DAZN.

Right. He can run a hell of a gauntlet if he chooses. Got the fights to make him an ATG. But he’s got to want it.Why would Haney go back to Hearn and DAZN? They couldn't get him any big fights. If he beats Kamboso, then wins the rematch. Then beats Lomachenko. Top Rank and ESPN could make him a offer for the Lopez fight to get him to sign another multi fight deal. Top Rank can offer him Taylor, Shakur Stevenson is big and will be moving up and Top Rank has recently made deals with PBC. You got a better chance of landing a fight with a PBC fighter like Tank that Top Rank brokers then you do with Hearn and DAZN. Or Haney can sign a multi fight deal directly with PBC after his deal ends with ESPN.Last edited by SplitSecond; 03-29-2022, 02:05 PM.Comment

Isn’t it meant to be Kambosos, Kambosos rematch and then Loma? They’re 3 good fights anyway tbh.
With a multi fight deal with Arum Haney could very well have struck gold. He could beat Kambosos then drop the belts and move straight in to a undisputed fight with Josh Taylor. I know Taylor said he is done at 140 but there is plenty of appeal and money in that fight. Undisputed 135 undefeated champion against undisputed 140 undefeated champion. The fight sales itself to the casuals and both fighters should believe they can win.
I think Taylor is definitely done at 140 but Teofimo will likely pick up a belt at 140 so that’s definitely an option too.Comment

I could see Taylor staying at 140 for that fight and I dont think Haney would roll the dice against Teo with nothing on the line honestly. For that matter I'd be hard pressed to believe Teo would take that fight without a title to gain. He has acted entitled since the Lomo fight but I agree Haney has options with Arum and Top Rank.Comment

If Teo picks up a belt at 140 yeah but I'm still not sold on Taylor dropping the belts just yet. 147 is tied up until 2023 if Bud and Spence/Ugas winner fight. Taylor's only option right now is Bud and that's not likely with the lawsuit happeningComment

They’ve just cut their losses. Without bringing Kambosos-Haney to DAZN there’s no point extending his deal because he doesn’t draw. I imagine they realised they weren’t getting that fight on their platform several months back so have allowed Haney to go elsewhere.Originally posted by Motorcity Cobra
Well why didn't they give him a contract extension? Haney is a free agent. DAZN /Matchroom could've given him a contract extension.
DAZN f***ed up big time investing in the likes of Haney, Andrade, Farmer etc. They were never going to get their money back. What’s worse about the Haney situation is they paid good money guiding him up the rankings, buying him a belt and now Bob is the guy cashing in on their investment.Comment

You say who do they have beyond Canelo? Absolutely nobody. Dazn has been a complete and utter failure in America like I've been saying for years now. They came here in 2018 with plans to take PBC from Haymon and shut down ESPN boxing like Hbo did. They thought they were going to have 20 million American subs in no time. They found out by 2020 that that wasn't going to happen. They realized that the white combat sports fans are locked into the UFC and they ARE NOT coming back to boxing. So their strategy shifted to forget the white fan base and neglect the black fan base because they are totally locked in to the PBC and have a vested interest in seeing Al Haymon succeed. They tried to be home of Mexican-American boxing and stole Canelo away from GBP and they would just roll with him. It took them about a year to figure out that they fuqed up by stealing Canelo from GBP because the Mexican-Americans had a vested interest in seeing Oscar succeed. Then the strategy shifted again to Pimp Canelo out to the few remaining subs they have left in America by putting him in gimmick fights (Kovalev the drunk) and sacrificing Eddie Hearn's countrymen's belts (Smith, Yildrim, Blow Job Saunders) to turn Canelo into this mythical Mexican undisputed superhero just to have that fight take place on Showtime PPV. That ain't work! Now the strategy has shifted again to just completely bum fuq anyone willing to subscribe. They started off 10$ pr mth / 100$ pr yr and no PPV to, after May 1st, 20 pr mth / 150$ pr yr and 3 Canelo PPVs at 60/80 per fight. So, on May 1, 2022, if I get a 1 yr sub at 150$ and buy all 3 Canelo fights in 2022 that's a total of 330 bucks. And you better believe had Dazn won the undisputed fight between Haney v Kambo that fight along with the rematch was going to be PPV which would run you another 160$. I'm also willing to bet that Oscar would want to get involved in the PPV action and would be willing to make JoJo v Ryan and that would be another 80$. All those fights would have taken place in 2022 and I would have 5 more months to go before my yearly deal is up in May 2023 and I'm willing to bet you Canelo and Devin were going to have PPV events before May '23. So if everything had gone Dazn's way and I looked at my year end statement in May '23 I probably would have spent between 600-700 dollars for my Dazn subscription. But I thought PPV WAS DEAD (insert smiley British face here)! Boy did they fail hard! Now the best thing that can happen for fans of American boxing is for Dazn to realize that there is no more Andrade, Devin, D Jacobs, T Farmer and soon no more Montana Love. They can take Canelo on a world tour before he comes back to Showtime PPV next summer, Devin is on ESPN where he belongs and Andrade, Love as well as Crawford over to PBC so we can get our WW and MW fights. Oscar is going to have to accept that the Dazn faucet is being turned off permanently and all that extra money he was getting for his ******* binges is over. He needs to save his company and get his ass over to Showtime. Ryan v Tank is a huge PPV. Boots v Virgil, Jermall v Mungia, Jo Jo v Izsac Cruz, Zurdo v Benevidez are all huge Showtime fights that needs to happen and that's totally up to Oscar.Horrible look for Hearn and DAZN they spent time and millions on Haney overpaying him for fights that lost money against lower level competition in hopes of cashing in on big profile fights instead he walks to another network who reaps the big profile fights and he's locked into a multi fight deal. Seems like they are letting Andrade walk as well. I don't know what they are doing with "Matchroom USA" because that has been a epic failure. All that money and Hearn couldn't lure any big stars and just overpaid guys like Andrade, Haney, Farmer, Jesse Vargas. You got Canelo who is signed to fight in 2022 but other then him and he's not signed next year who else do they have to drive the US market?Comment

That's the vibe I got. If anything, when I read the terms it felt like Top Rank and ESPN got the rights of this to ensure Lomachenko gets his crack at it when he returns from the war. The rematch and then the winner to have a shot they fight Loma provided they don't move up in weight. The whole thing just seems to facilitate getting Lomachenko his shot when he's ready.Comment

There is a good chance that Teofimo is a champion by the time Haney is done fighting Kambosos though.
I could see Taylor staying at 140 for that fight and I dont think Haney would roll the dice against Teo with nothing on the line honestly. For that matter I'd be hard pressed to believe Teo would take that fight without a title to gain. He has acted entitled since the Lomo fight but I agree Haney has options with Arum and Top Rank.
Taylor is vacating the belts soon. And as mentioned already, both share Ben Davidson so I wouldn't be sure of them fighting anytime soon.Comment
