That's why the results that we got in the promotions...left a lot to be desired."

This is the part that bothers me. Promoters expect the fighters to fight for them and make them money but expect the fighter to do his own promotion. The fighters job is to prepare and come in the ring 100 percent ready to fight. The promoters job is to sell the fight and get as much money as possible for all parties involved. Arum has been in the business long enough to know that.
What a ****** comment and not surprised by the idiots who liked it. A fighter has to be able to sell himself. What's the point of all the press conferences leading up to the fight if the main attraction has no personality?

Lmfao what? Carnelo undercards are absolute trash. The only time I could remember a good undercard is the carnelo-cotto fight.

I have to admit, ever since Eddy gave Canelo the key to castle, the quality of his prelims has suffered. At 35 million per, who needs costars?

Instead he went across the pond to help train Amir Khan to get sparked out because he had nothing better to do and is suing Arum because he thinks that will be his best payday.
Bud wasted his prime earning years hiding behind Arum and Top Rank and now reality is setting in. Keep dreaming he has some big plans in the works.
Yeah you’re just trying to spin your own narrative. I’m not saying he’s a massive draw because honestly, nobody in boxing currently is other than Canelo and Joshua, so you trying to compare him to Canelo was irrelevant and just a corny fan boy way to praise him. You say he can’t draw in his own home state, yet did have 6 events in Nebraska that drew anywhere from 10,000 to over 13,000 fans to the arena. So if the promotors did their jobs and promoted and got him the fights that HE WANTED (since obviously pbc were the ones hiding their fighters from him and arum is on record admitting that he kept pac away from Crawford for fear that pac would get hurt) maybe he’d be in a better spot. So like I said, the promotors didn’t do their jobs.

I just cant understand how we got beyond the old days where a promoter hyped the fight up as the fight of the century and the fighter performed to the best of their ability ya know. Maybe I'm just getting old Lol
I’m in the same boat as you mate. This social media phenomenon is pretty alien to me too but unfortunately it’s become a huge part of sports promotion.

Agree, though Pacquiao always had allot of Charisma and always went above and beyond not just with the media but with any other obligations whether he had a fight lined up or not, Crawford and Top Rank both could have done better in that aspect, but rarely did,

Even now with Shakur Valdez coming up Top Rank is barely promoting it and not in the right ways, even a few 10-20 seconds commercials on tv can help with the casual viewer, but they just do the bare minimal and then plug in another Max Espn segment to top it off & that's about it.

By the way i had just come past that old Casino Manny ad, still holds up.

What I came to say. All facts. Golovkin who had one of the quickest rises to stardom, didn’t have lots of personality, he was just a busy fighter and always in the media.

The fighters job is to fight and if he is good at that he sells himself in the ring not at the press conference table. You can talk all the crap you want at a press conference and still catch a beating on fight night.

Your post is exactly what I'm saying here. Bud has done his job everytime he got in the ring that's why he continues to be a top P4P fighter. Bob dropped the ball in not getting him the massive fights we as fans deserved. I cant see any fault in Bud there. His only fault is resigning with Bob but at 5 Mil minimums ya cant blame the guy because all the other welterweights are avoiding him like the plauge. Porter stepped up and only did that because he had nothing to lose.
