What’s your agenda for making that post? As far as I know Tank nor Haney has ducked anyone. I wonder why you didn’t mention the others at 135? It’s a mystery........

Stevenson sure looks like the genuine article but a few red flags. When you have the goods, you’re not afraid to match him tough. Until now, he’s been moved slowly. The other thing is that given the talent disparity of his opposition, he hasn’t had to show that he has the heart to make it through a gritty fight. I expect Valdez fight to be that kind of fight. We shall see

I think that sums it up nicely. Stevenson is much to quick to get out of range with his feet. Earlier in his career he'd leap almost 10 ft back to get out of the way of fire, always taking himself out of range for the counter. Until he faces tougher opposition, AND a willingness to be hit, the jury is still out on how good he is. I'm not suggesting that he intentionally get hit, but I dont know how one can be a fighter and be afraid of getting hit.

At the very least, his ability matches up with the press he gets, I like that. I'm not the biggest fan of the style of his fights but there's no denying he's got some great qualities (reflex being #1 to me, that leaps off the screen)

Really only question is: can he "fight" when things break down, will he seize opportunities. Is he able to take the extra step in to create own offense when he doesn't have a guy trying to force himself onto him. He was critical of his performance against Nakathilia and came out and tried to throw more against Herring which was good; Herring really had his tail tucked going into that fight, he seemed to know how the fight was going to be so the threat level for SS wasn't too high. Still, improved effort. OVERALL though, still frustrated with his performances because he fights scared when it appears there is no reason to be

This next fight he should get someone who has pedigree and proven in the pros, really can't ask for much more so it looks like he wants the test. It's a great matchup

Very talented but very boring most of the time. Rightfully or wrongfully i don't get excited for his fights.

I don’t know about that. The praise from the ESPN crew is god like (I abso********lutely hate listening to Tim Bradley) and he hasn’t proven that yet.

Good boxer, is quite skilled, good measurements but isn't what people think he is or try to hype him up to be.

I wonder if he is just a boxer with a high floor though.

It's going to be hard for him to get one of these big names to fight him (they already don't fight each other as it is). But if he can get an opponent with equal level for once? That'll be a measure of him.

If he moved up to 135 and stopped Isaac Cruz or Joseph Diaz with his style of boxing? That would be something to make me believe he really has the goods.

Exactly. I would even waive a "gritty" fight, if the fight was just more evenly skilled opponents.

He's walking his resume because those guys really can't box and really don't have the level of boxing close to him.

But Oscar Valdez is a good start to proving his (shakur) ability.

Yes they go overboard with it and they do that for a lot of their house fighters, but at least with SS I can see some of it jumping off the screen. As opposed to (and I'm not trying to deride this guy, only using as an example) someone like Haney who get similar type press as the elite boxer type but I don't see the natural reflex like SS has. I think the difference in those qualities has started to show in a couple of Haney fights, for example. It's still speculative though- we;ve a good fight on tap to measure things up

Skill and talent wise he is Top 5 rn. I rate him above everyone at 135 not named Tank. Need to some him in tough fights and see him stand and FIGHT against a top guy. Would love to see him vs Isaac Cruz as a debut at 135
