How do you rank him skill for skill?

He probably thought being more of a puncher would suit him for where he was going.

That's the great thing with Nelo. He is effective when boxing or trading.
He also has enough defensive skills to avoid flush shots.
          IMHO, he's the complete fighter.
I totally agree. In the first GGG fight he retreated to the ropes too much. Course he still did well enough once there. GGG was too afraid to go to the body for fear of being countered. That didn’t go unnoticed.
In the second fight Canelo stood his ground. He did what he needed to do to change some perceptions. He adapted. It was still a close fight. GGG did nothing that looked like he learned from the first twelve rounds.
Canelo can hit much taller opponents with his jab. Everyone of his punches are strong. He can shuffle and mix up his combos. His opponents have been hit hard in each part of their body. Eventually they are forced to guess which way to flinch, duck, bend, protect themselves. When they get it wrong they pay a steep price… like bending right into an uppercut.
You have to be excellent at everything to do what he does.
He takes your shots, then fires back too fast abs hard for most to even want to try and counter.

Many people had the plant fight very close or even, and Plant is nothing.
            - - Canelo forced l'l Floyd into 2 consecutive Majority Decisions. He lost a fight against Bayless, l'l floydy, and Vegas, but won the war of greatness as McG was pummeling l'l floydy with 111 punches. l'l Floydy last seen getting BTFO by Logan Paul after he told his fans to bet the farm on his KO of Paul.

Y U so flat brained? Slam dunked at birth?

The more they put out, the more Nelo puts out. And they don't want that.

                Nelo is testing himself.
More than that ''other guy'' can say.
not throwing punches just because your opponents don't is a flaw. Against kovalev he only threw 300 punches in 11 rounds, that is terrible. He also struggled against plant throwing just 361 punches. He only got away with it vs them because they were not elite opponents and couldnt take a punch.

Who is fighting ''elite'' guys ?
                  Beter ?
                  GGG ?
                  Some other guy ?

Hell, are there any ''elite'' guys to fight ?
The shlt people give Nelo can be aimed at that other guy, but won't (for some strange reason).
Seems like Nelo is ''doomed'', as May was, to never win over some fans hearts.

Do you have a proper argument or just whataboutism? Canelo nut huggers get more pathetic by the day. He struggled to throw 300 punches vs Plant, imagine fighting Floyd again? would be another total domination. Canelo is lost vs good boxers even B grade ones like Plant.

                      - - Logan Paul already BTFO of lil' floydy who told his fans to bet the farm on a sure KO of Paul, so U imagination run amuck stuck in it. It happened. Canelo the new P4P face of boxing immensely popular with fans as the 5 min sell out of the Bivol fight proves. And he don't need 1500lbs of Security Beefsters to protect him from the people like l'l floydy.

                      U one of EllerbeeWannabee SissyBoys?
